I think its a little too obvious that the helmet comes off, and if it doesn't they definately made his face too thin, and it looks roughly sculpted. Still, if its made of metal count me in.

I bet his armor made mostly of plastic, like PF Boba Fett.

Oh well, I always wanted a PF Robocop.

Just like their 1/4 Terminator. This "PF" Robo. suffers from major likeness/accuracy and proportion problem. We might get some pics with the repositioned helmet(who put the thing like that in the 360 view anyway?), but for now, I doubt there will be much "feeling" change on the show piece or final version. However, they still got time to fix if they really want to DO IT RIGHT. SS is hauling a lot of stuff out, that might be the explanation to the this odd looking prototype.

Yeah that pics does make it look better even the facial area looks more accurate, but there`s still something not quite right. Legs to short maybe?

Alaneye
07-26-2007, 03:33 AM
It's off as many of the Robocops I've seen are - the main thing is that the waist and especially the hips are too narrow. Robocop should be quite chunky. The most accurate one I've seen (and got) is the Hot Toys 12" version. Also, though the likeness is accurate, it isn't how he appears in the movie - his lips should be more pursed as the chin strap pushes up and the helmet should be angled down from the back of the head to the nose.

Don't think I'll be getting this one unless the production version improves.

Alan

Heh, heh, heh, and Hard Hero is getting better with each release! :D

IMHO, I think the Robocop looks nice! I just hope it is not some plastic rendition like the Boba Fett PF by SS! Ugh! But I really, really, really liked what I saw first hand! I don't know what's wrong with the face for many on this forum?

The face is too wan and sits incorrectly in the helmet/jawpiece. Look at some of the stills posted earlier in this thread. If they can fix the head, I'll definitely get one of these.

Afterall, it is an exclusive. It's almost a given that this will sell out fairly quick. It's been up for order since early yesterday. How long before a sell-out? Any takers?

I dont think the likeness on the statue is bad
they look similar to me
which is were the mcfarlane argument comes into place

like what we pay hardly anything for that peice
and 250plus shipping for the statue that looks similar

for a character like this
I would prefer plastic because its cheaper and nearly as good IMO

His left arm is way to stubby, and he is smirking/smiling. Also there is a huge gap where his arms connect to his body and his armor is flat as opposed to "glittery" and shiny (like car paint). I could go on and on. He just looks like a giant, expensive action figure and sort of is with all his movable parts. :thumbs2:

Ok, Vetteman, not only are you far from the truth.......but you couldn't be further from the truth! Arms are not too stubby! In person, that armor is glistening dude, but not overly shiny! The gap on the arm.....I just don't see what you are referring to! People can try to nitpick all they want, the only thing I can see someone saying is that it is semi poseable, and they don't like that! But everything else is nitpicking and hard nitpicking at that! If you nitpick on statues, then I just don't see how you buy statues? Of course people strive for perfection, but there is always something we can find problems with!

vetteman
07-30-2007, 10:31 PM
I never said his armS where stubby, just his left. Also look at his shoulder joints. In the movie they sort of round off INTO his body. The SS piece's arms look like they are pegged in with a large gap.

You're missing my point. These are mass produced items, resin (polystone) poured into molds and painted in a factory. This entire hobby was born out of the love for Aurora models of the 60's and later the garage kit boom of the 80's and 90's. I love this stuff as much as anyone on this forum, but I have no allusions. These are big boys' toys.

I hardly consider these toys not are the mass produced. 500-1000 pieces (20 or less pieces per state) is HARDLY mass produced. They are limited edition collectibles, just like any statue you get. Almost all statue one buys or collects are not one of a kind or nobody could afford them. Don't mistake the statues content as being toy-like. Also, them being made out of resin doesn't change anything. Pouring resin into a mold is no different than pouring bronze into a mold.

He's not human anymore...it's the front on pic from SS site. The dome of his helmet, looks to bulged out on the sides and the dome looks too tall. He has no ears, so there's no need for this bulge. Which seems to give him an abnormal shaped head.

Ah, so this is where we separate the "men" from the boys - your toys have to be motionless? I go back to what I say before: I have no allusions and make no distinctions, these are all toys, albeit very well crafted ones. The day a Sideshow piece or any other "high-end collectible" shows up on the floor of the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Guggenheim, I'll believe differently.

Listen, the minute the companies started sticking pieces of cloth to sculpted works, the line between statues and dolls was wiped out. The argument could also be made regarding painting these pieces - very little true sculpture since the days of antiquity have had paint applied. And PLEASE, don't think I'm just talking Sideshow, I mean everything from Cinemaquette to Barbie.

This debate is easily settled.

Toys are meant to be played with and statues are meant to be displayed.

Now you CAN display a toy, but playing with a statue might be kinda tough.

If you consider posing this guy "playing" then that's your thing.

As a Fett owner, it doesn't take away from the appearance of the piece. It's just that some people feel it is overpriced for a large action figure.
