I've been checking the statue forum for quite some time and finally decided to take the plunge and become a part of the community.

I'm not an avid collector (guess you could say I'm more of a newbie in terms of collecting) but I do enjoy the discussion in these threads. I hope I don't get addicted. I've been good so far...

So many replies so quickly! Thanks for the welcome party.

As I stated before, I'm a newbie so I only have 2 statues and a few gentle giant mini-busts. I've been very cautious about getting into this "hobby" if you wanna call it that since I've heard it can easily get out of control in terms of addiction.

I love to see good renditions of comic book superheroes. I'm also a Star Wars and Star Trek fan. Basically, I appreciate nice sculpts when I see them, whether they be superheroes or characters from film. From all the discussions I've seen, and the amount of statues available from all these different films, it's been very difficult deciding what I really want. One statue I was very impressed with was the 1:1 scale Yoda bust from Sideshow. Too rich for me, but it definitely got me a lot more curious to this hobby.

My favorite piece so far is my sideshow Princess Leia statue. As far as what piece I'm eyeing on next...:confused:

It's not a matter of how many pieces I'm eyeing, but more in terms of what is realistic in terms of my budget. Basically if I really like something and I have the extra cash, I'll jump in. This is why I have a very small collection (if you even want to call it that), since it seems I rarely have the extra cash.

By the way...who is Tony Coca?

So you gravitate more towards the Star Wars end of the spectrum? That's cool.

Try a search for one of the Iron Sculptor threads. They did a whole bust competition on Star Wars and some of them came out really nice.

I only have one Star Wars piece. It's a Gentle Giant Darth Vader bust. I just liked the way it looked and the price was reasonable. It represents Star Wars in my collection.

You are smart to stay in budget. It is so easy to get sucked in, and when the collecting starts controlling you, it loses some of its fun.

As to Tony? He has a few of his own issues going on now, but I'm sure he'll make his presense known once he's taken care of things.
