Yeah your not the only one! Alot of people were not pleased with the paint. I have read that alot of the environments have paint issues. Inconsistent, some good, some not.

Is this becuase of the high edition size? Imagine the poor chinese people painting 8500 Minas Morgul's... :rolleyes2

On the other side, I expected a much better quality for $ 75.-

Yeah painting the same thing day in and day out would get old in a hurry. Your right about the $75. I expected it to be a bit bigger I think too.

Interesting....that seems to be the common perception about this piece. Paint app sucks. From the close up pics I've seen, I would agree it's a tad on the sloppy side, but like you said, imagine being on an assembly line painting ONE thing on this piece as it goes by...Gads.

Yes bigger! At least 12 inch... !

I would like to see how these statues are manufactured. How do they such massive amounts? How do they paint these? Is there one person each color to be added? I can imagine they sit in a row, each person doing one color...
and the last person writes the edition number on the bottom. Anyone knows?

Rick if you could see mine. The word "tad" doesn't begin to cover it. I'll try and get some really grusome closeup shots later.

LOL! I should do some closeups too! Gruesome is the right word!

Skulpturen- I'm pretty sure that's exactly how it goes. One person does one thing and passes it on. Make for some wild paint apps, but I can't see doing it any other way.

CB - Oh man...NOW yer scarin' me....

I'm pretty sure my 4 year old nephew can paint in the lines better.

Rick,

I'm seriously thinking about this being repainted by YOU!
How much would that cost?

Exactly how big is this thing?

It's the same size like the MINAS TIRITH.

Comicboy

Not very big Rick. And it's got like half the detail that Minas Tirith does.

Does the Minas Morgul enviro have glow-in-the-dark paint on it? That'd be cool.....

Funny you should mention that Philbert! I told Skulpturen one could mix some GitDark paint w/ the green so that it would glow

I didn't have it out of the box for much longer than the time it took to check for damage and take some pics but I would have to agree, the paint job on the Minas Morgul leaves a bit to be desired. But that can be said about a number of the pieces. I guess if there's one weak link with any prepainted item (not just Sideshow's), it's the paint job. You could have a kick a$$ sculpt but a bad paint job will just kill it. But that's the nature of the beast. It's also a reason why I think the guys who do the Master Paint jobs for manufactured product SHOULD get some credit on the box. You're most liking buying the item because of the sculpt AND the master paint job but unfortunately you get the factory paint and can only hope it is adequate. And that's another reason why we should all bow down to our Paint Masters for the awesome work they do. Have you hugged your Paint Master today? Come here Rick, Danno, Phil :wink2:

Now back to Minis Morgul, I found some pics that I posted earlier:

Awwwww, Zurb, yer making us blush.....

I've only been given name credit on the box for one paint master I've done, and the was for Karl Sander's (Dragonfire on the boards) Keeper of Time Dragon pre-paint. Thanx Karl!

Rick, see, I think that's wrong. The sculptor should get credit and so should you guys. Of course people buy these pieces because they love the characters and what not. But if it's a horrible sculpt they're not going to buy it. But the paint job on the master is what really grabs the eye and most likely is what closes the deal. The painter should get credit for that.

RickDTM

But of course I agree! :D

Maybe I'll ask why we don't get credit for this next time I go to Diamond....

Hey Zurb,

Geesh, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

But I thik it would be nice if more companies provided names for the paint masters on the box.
