The author of the Wheel of Time series has died.. He did what everyone was fearing, dying before he finished a series he started over 20 years ago. One last book to write, hopefully he got most of it done.

And before any of you get up in arms, yes it's sad that he died but beyond the impact his series has made upon me (both good and bad) that's all I know him as (an author who streched a trilogy into a 10 plus book series)

That's a shame. I lost steam with the books around Book 5, when I realized I had very little interest in the mail storyline, and was only reading for the sub-plots...but still, I know those books are MAJOR influences on a lot of readers still to this day. And of course, I'm sorry for his family and friends.

Here's hoping that it wasn't sudden, and even if he didn't finish the book, he left notes behind so that someone can. I imagine that even if it was sudden, a professional writer would be able to piece something together from what he had planned.

He was my introduction to fantasy. You never forget your first. I've stuck around for the whole series.

He will be missed.

Damn this is really sad. I love the wheel of time series. Does anyone know anymore details of what he died of?

He was 58 and died of a rare blood disorder.

Doh. That's too bad. I made it most of the way through the series, but lost interest with Knife of Dreams. Still, it sucks that he never did get to finish his life's work.

who?

If you read the original post, then you'd know who he was. :D

And the book will be finished, RJ said long ago he'd already written down the ending and also put down a lot of notes on how the last book should go. And he was working on the last book for about 1 1/2 years before he died.
