just got back from seeing this.

First thing that comes to mind is "A little less conversation, a little more action"

This was not meant to be a 2 hour movie. the scenes with the girls nattering were far too long and boring. You could see how it could work as part of the grindhouse package.

The action sequences were great though. russell was great as wass zoe bell.

worth seeing just for the sake of it and for the car chases

great soundtrack as always

I saw Grindhouse at the theater, and tho I liked Deathproof, I agree with joy_division 100%.
So much dialogue even tho its Tarantino's dialogue it tends to really drag the film down.

Planet Terror on the other hand was non-stop, over the top wacky gorefest which I'll definitly be buying when it comes out on dvd.

I just rented this tonight.
On one hand I liked it but I agree there was too much banter. The soundtrack was very cool like most of his films. I'll wait to buy this when it comes down to bargain price at Bestbuy. Why did they not release them both at the same time?
I wanted to see the other one too.

It worked better in some parts mainly the first part of the movie. What was the reason it turned into modern
day film after the 14months and his recovery from the hospital?
The first part was nice with the 70's style filming.
Then it changed to crisp modern film style, with no grain and heavy shadow.
The lap dance was great as was the part with the car collision from multiple view points.

Was the second film really no good?

Planet Terror is the first film and it is WAY better than Death Proof, Boon is one of the few that actually liked death proof.

If you did not like the dialog then you must not be a Tarantino fan. This movie had some of the best dialog in a movie since Reservoir Dogs.

I would say Kill Bill 1 &/or 2 had a better dialogue.

I can see how this works as a double feature. It just doesn't work for me as a feature film on it's own.

it takes too long at the beginning to take off. Plus I never knew if it was supposed to be set in the 70s until julie took her mobile phone out.

Worth seeing for the second act though

What bothers me about Tarantino is that most of the stuff his characters say you can imagine Tarantino saying.

I agree Kill Bill does have some great dialog, but thats the whole point. Almost all of tarantino's film have fantastic dialog, this one included.

Although I think DP & PT are great films, they still should shave released the 2 as 1 film (like in the theaters). The only thing I didn't like is that there is no commentary by Tarantino which always fun to watch. Plus there were no faux trailers like in the theaters. What a gyp! :banghead:

It really stinks they're leaving out the trailers, I thought all of them were pretty good.

Releasing Grindhouse as separate "restored" films is the ultimate c*ck-up. It eliminates the entire reason the original movie was made in the first place. I have no doubt it will eventually be released as intended, but this is unforgivable. I hadn't enjoyed a Tarrantino film for quite a while until Grindhouse... now it's been screwed up for me.:banghead: :banghead:

They are releasing both films as one, including the trailers, exactly how it was seen in the theaters. This set will not come out for a few months but they said it wil be released.

Tarantino hasn't had a good film since Resovoir Dogs

That is rediculous.
You realize Tarantino is the same person who made Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown right?

Are they finally releasing the full version of Kill Bill??? All under one roof?

It's about time! That movie rawks and have always wanted to see it as Tarantino intended- as one film.

there's a good interview with Tarantino here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/filmprogramme/filmprogramme.shtml) which sheds some light on the full length version of DeathProof

I like these kind of movies that look like they were made in the '70s but at the same time they still have ipods, and have cell phones.

I swear I thought Pam Grier was gonna make a cameo somewhere!!!

I liked it, I just had when they destroy great muscle cars like that.

This movie can definitely stand on it's own. It would have been better if it was released with Planet Terror as Grindhouse but I can deal with that. BEST movie I've seen this year.

Now, release this on HD DVD already!
