Who is faster - QuickSilver or Flash?

sorry guys, but in this battle Quicksilver is pants. no one is faster than the Flash. while Pietro's is a mutant power, with limits, the Flash can tap directly into the 'speed force'. this speed force doesn't exist in the Marvel universe of course, but in the DCU it allows the Flash to travel up to and possibly beyond the speed of light and even enables time travel. the limits of this ability aren't even known yet. Flash wins hands down. he would have gone round the globe twice before Pietro even got one foot off the ground.

back when i was a Marvel zombie i thought DC characters were all kiddie stuff and back in those days they pretty much were. but with nothing of interest from Marvel in these Quesada years, i turned to DC and i was pleasantly surprised. Geoff Johns is doing an excellent job on the Flash now and i've become an avid Flash reader. i still can't stomach much of the older writing on Barry Allen Flash. but the current Wally West Flash is tops! give it a try if you can pick up some of the Geoff Johns trades or borrow them from a friend. it's a new era of greatness for the character. if you like speedsters, i'm confident you'll enjoy them. best of all, while Marvel is busy doing alternate covers and rebooting titles at $3.50 a pop, DC is still putting these great stories out for only $2.25 a month :thumbs2:

The Flash is far, far faster, I seem to remember that back in the days of the Barry Allen Flash that he was searching for something and was circling the Earth in 8 seconds. whats more he use to use his power in different ways like vibrating through walls, creating whirlwind etc.

I love the writing of the Barry Allen flash although it is not the right stuff for today as things have moved on and things are based more in reality if you can with superheroes.

When The Barry Allen Flash was wrote it was more for fun and escapism, as opposed to the more cynical world of today. EG just compare the Batman stories of the 60’s with the giant world fair props and alien stories compared with the gritty stories of today.

The Flash is definitely faster. By tapping into the speed force, the Flash can move a light speed. In some instances, the Flash has gone faster than light (see Crisis on Infinite Earths ).

Quicksilver moves in slow motion compared to the Flash.

I love Marvel more, but even Pietro has not broken the time barrier or reversed the rotation of the Earth. You are so right, of course Marvel is "realistic".

I mean, Gamma radiation probably does cause people to grow green and strong. And there are so many people who have claws coming out of their hands and a super quick healing factor. And I can't tell you how many people I have ran into that have spider powers by being bitten by radioactive spiders! marvel is just so realistic. And norse Gods, they are just running aroudn the planet. :laugh:

If you are going to suspend your disbelief (and we all agree this is the quality needed to really appreciate Sci-Fi at any level) then the more you can tie powers to actual known scientific phenomena, the easier it is to suspend that disbelief and therefore enjoy a story.

Gamma radiation does alter physiology at a cellular level. Man did come from animal. Radiation poisoning is real. I have yet to pull up a scientific text that talks about "the speed force".

I do wholeheartedly agree with you on the Batman. This is one of the best archetypes ever created. Batman has always been and will probably always be one of my favorite heroes in any company. That said, in the real world, someone would have found a way to tie the Joker to a crime in Texas and he would have long since fried. With the exception of Ras' Al Ghul, many Bat-Villains are also way out there on the realistic side.

PS - I don't recall copping to hating DC. I just gave you my honest feelings that I liked Marvel more. It is my personal preference. People on this board need to take a breath and realize that most disagreements are about degrees and not about love/hate absolutes.

Madjazz, sorry for throwing you into this argument. I just hate when people hate on DC on the realism tangent. However, everyone has a choice to like and dislike whatever they want.

I love properties on both and hate properties on both sides. But, if I had to choose I would rather read what's happening to Batman (obviously) than X-men.

yeah,..but what got me was that he was fast enough to do all those things but would still get punched or zapped or hit somehow. I still can't quite get over that even now with the DC heroes (I do now enjoy DC comics). But Green Lantern, Flash, Supes, should be all unbeatable.
