Simon Pegg to play Scotty?

According to Variety, anyway. I pass this on not as a Trek fan, but as a Pegg (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) fan.

They're jumping up and down over this news over at aintitcool.com but I'm just not that sure about this one. I like Simon Pegg alot. He's very funny. I just think he looks nothing at all like Scotty and aren't they trying to cast somewhat lookalikes?

I may be way off but wearn't the age differences between characters somewhat significant in the original series? I've read that they've now cast Chekov, Lt. Uharu, Sulu, Spock and now Scotty. If the action takes place soon after Kirk's academy days, wouldn't Chekov, Sulu and Uharu be extremely young? like preteen?
Kirk was 33-34 in the show. Wearn't some of his crew in they're early 20's?

I thought the guy who played the Doctor who got blown up from StarGate Atlantis was going to be Scotty.
Maybe not, he seemed a wee bit to old for the younger ages these character's would be, or not Scotty was older than Kirk?
Who know's?
I hope this one isn't another unending piece of Garbage as the first one was, or the piece of Whale crap, the one with the piece of whale crap was in.
They said about every Ten year's or so they bring back the Star Trek License stuff to keep older and New fan's in the loop.
