Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans

Sony are planning the third instalment of the Underworld franchise, a prequel titled Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans.


According to a report in Variety today, the movie will be set the in the Dark Ages, and will chart the rise of chief Lycan Lucian, who rallies the werewolves to rise up against head-vampire/dictator Viktor.

Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy will reprise their roles as Lucian and Viktor; however Kate Beckinsale's character will not feature.

Beckinsale's husband Len Wiseman, who helmed the first two Underworld films, is also steering clear, and has been replaced by Patrick Tatapoulos - previously the creature designer for the series.

"For the first time we will experience the Underworld universe through the eyes of the Lycans," Wiseman told Variety. "Patrick (Tatapoulos) has always played such an essential part in helping to create Underworld from the start... so I feel it is both exciting and fitting that (he) now takes the helm."

The fact that Kate will not be appearing in the movie is a downside, but I will be looking forward to this nonetheless.

Hated the first one... bald werewolves and only one vampire bite in a movie about a vampire/werewolf war? Then, the big hybrid you're waiting for is... just blue?

The second surprised me, not too bad, so I'm mixed on the third one; taking a "wait and see" approach.

I was waiting to hear about Underworld 3. They say Kate's not going to be in it now but things might change & we'll see Kate but most likely in a cameo role, before she became a dominate person.

The first 2 didnt succeed strictly on Kates talent or starpower, it was a cool story with great visuals dont understand how some people could not like the first 2 underworlds, if you weren't into horror and action you should never have gone to see this in the first place.
