I had to share with statueforum mates, the latest addition to my art collection in the shape of a stunning Shanna the She-Devil commission by statueforum's very own Chris Stevens (aka Snappahead)!

I was very late to get on Chris' commission list some time back but Chris kindly said that he would try to fit in my request with his work schedule. He was finally able to find some time to create this absolutely delightful Shanna the She-Devil commission piece for me -

I was simply floored when I saw this piece (the detail and background look amazing) and I can't wait for it to arrive on my doorstep :)

I also arranged to purchase the following very cool Doc Strange piece from Chris' CAF Gallery For Sale section -

Chris' CAF Gallery can be seen here -

I believe that Chris isn't taking on commissions at present but you can always check with him :) Thanks Chris, you're a legend! Best,

Royd

Wow, nice stuff. I like the tonal difference between the leopard skin and everything else in the Shanna pic.

I had no idea Snappa was an artist. I'll have to store that nugget away for future reference...

I really need to organise something with Chris. Unfortunately he does not accept PP. I might send some payment to a mate in the us and get him to post a cheque. His work is excellent.

let me know, I have dealt with chris on several pieces and he is a fair guy. I traded a couple of statues he was looking for and we were able to come to an agreement we both were happy with.
He works fast and follows ideas you have and takes it to another level. I'll post my pieces I have from him. Batman vs Soloman grundy , 2 capt profile pieces.

I've tried to get a commission from him not to long ago, he said he was not taking anymore commissions at the time. But you can always give it a try, the man's a brilliant artist :thumbs2:

Wow, the response to my posting of Chris' sweet Shanna piece has been amazing and it's now the most commented on piece in my CAF gallery (which isn't bad considering my gallery also houses pieces by Hughes, Ross, Charest, Hitch and other luminaries :)).

Thanks for all the kind words about this stunning addition to the collection :) Best,

Royd

Thanks JG, I appreciate the kind words regarding the collection :) It's taken around 18 years to build the collection on a limited budget (I've never paid more than $500 for any single piece and those have been rare!).

The only reason I have some lovely examples of work by fave artists is through their generosity - many of the works are gifts from the artists or purchased direct from them at "mates rates" for which I'm very, very grateful :) Warm regards,

Royd

How much ass kissing does it take to get "mates rates' from artists?:D

Sounds similar to how I will likely build my collection. I may save up for a nice cover at some point but I think more will come the route that you have taken. Now if I stop collecting statues I would have some more money so who knows.

Its the way I used to go. This year was a BIG exception.

LOL! Well the copious amounts of "ass kissing" has included sending quality Australian wine overseas (eg. to Bryan Hitch and Paul Neary), sending Christmas cards, taking artists out to lunch/dinner, showing them around the city (eg. Phil Jimenez when he attend an Aussie con) finding out what they like and sending them gifts (eg. rare toys etc.) and so on!

It probably works out to around the same cost as you end up paying Monster - heheh! Mind you the birthday gifts (from Hitch/Neary, Ash Wood, Stuart Immonen and others) have also been incredibly generous. Warm regards,

Royd

Good grief! I had no idea your a$$ kissing skills were so well crafted, Royd. No wonder you get so many "mates rates" as you put it. Does this mean I'll be treated to lunch if I ever make it to Oz:)

If you go to SDCC this year, we'll be able to meet. I'll be a guest this year at the Udon table. I hope to see you there. I know it's not easy for you to make that trip. Just imagine how much schmoozing you could do if you lived in the states.

Woohoo! Due to the vagaries of US Post and/or Australia Post, my parcel (beautifully packed in nuke-proof packing) from Chris Stevens arrived on Thursday containing the lovely/sexy Shanna the She-Devil and the mystical Doc Strange!

Just wanted to say thanks again to Chris for creating both these pieces but especially the Shanna which has received so many hits and comments (more than any other piece in my collection!) including compliments from Joe Jusko and Mike Bair! Best,

Royd
