Hi all,

Looking for a relatively inexpensive home theatre system to use with my soon to be here Mitsubishi 65 inch projection tv and my new Toshiba A-3 HD DVD player! Room is fairly good size (13X25).

I have been looking at a Sony system HT-SS2000 (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665186457) but I really need some help if you guys can suggest a system (Or tell me not to buy a certain system).

I only want to spend about $500 (or so) and don't want a system that comes with a DVD player as I don't need it.

Thanks!:thumbs2:

I was actually looking at Amazon again! They have it with NO TAX and FREE SHIPPING for $354.
Just wanted some opinions from some folks in the know before I pulled the trigger.....

I think this one is good also... I like the Yamaha Receivers...

You should really stay away from these receiver/speaker bundles.

Quality is not really good and you will probably want to upgrade within 6 months.

:)

For an ok system, look to spend around $1500 for speakers and a receiver.

That said, I will look around and see what the best "home theater in a box" is these days for you...

Couldn't agree more...I have an Onkyo reciever with a JBL 7.1 setup. Not the best setup, but it sounds better than a damn movie theater, and the SQ is great! It set me back about 2000k. But I'm extremely happy for the meantime since I won't be upgrading until I get a DESIGNATED theater room...

Here is a pretty good deal for an Onkyo receiver:
