I take it this is a decent SS system Bulls?
What about pairing it with these?

When you buy both its a pretty good deal C. And its pretty close to your budget. You can always upgrade the speakers in the future.

If you can afford to go an extra couple of hundred i would go for this amp instead as it has DTS HD and DD HD.

I actually have had this receiver for a while now and trust me, you don't need an amp...it puts out plenty on its own

BTW coco do you have the 705 or 605? The 705 has hi-def audio output.

the 605. When I bought it at the beginning of the year the 705 was out of my price range. But it does decode true HD audio, and that's all I care about since all I buy now is HD and Blu ray:)

So if I just want a great sounding Surround Sound experience is the 605 with the Onk 7.1 speakers gonna take care of that?

Closet, I recommended the same receiver in your thread.
GET IT! You will not find one at a better price.
It is pretty good overall, of course there are better but more $$$.
Then just buy your speakers next.
In the end, it is worth the extra money, trust me.

I have a question.
I just bought the 605. If I only have a 5.1 speaker setup right now, will I get any better sound at all out of the HD DVDs?

YES! The uncompressed sound will sound phoenomenal. Plus most HD and Bluray discs are formatted for uncompressed 5.1 anyways so you're good!:thumbs2:

if you DO go with this receiver, make sure you go HDMI for your DVD players and gaming systems. Makes the experience even better!
