Horrible.

I don't understand why they let her so easily accessible to large crowds after the last attempt.

Yet another reminder of the world we live in...

Assassinations and suicide bombings.
How do we reach these people?

With a .223 preferrably.

The one thing they are the absolutely most terrified of though... empowered muslim women.

“I am what the terrorists most fear,” she tells me, “a female political leader fighting to bring modernity to Pakistan. Now they’re trying to kill me."

The extremists know, as long as they keep woman as slaves, they can keep raising more jihadists.

They know that empowered muslim women, will be the end of them long term.

That is why democracy is so important.

That is why it is the long term solution to extremism.

Because then the weak, become stronger then the oppressive islamo facists.

The whole world saw it coming but she was pretty steadfast in her mission.
She barely escaped the bombing attempt on her life that killed over 100 people a couple of months ago. You figured after that she wouldve stayed the hell away from crowds.

But of course the people now rioting in the streets are more than likely angry at the government rather than the terrorist scum. :rolleyes2

Poor lady.

This sounds a bit flippant, but I reckon a lot of terrorists just need to get laid more, they get so frustrated they blow themselves up.

Your not far off I think for the radicals.

The incredible brainwashing from birth, incredible repressiveness of everything not just sex.

The demonization of all things non-muslim.

The madrassas where the kids are just force fed the Koran all day long, and taught the most extreme things. Democracy the enemy of all islam. Only the rule of Allah, not the rule of man.

There is no social studies, no knowledge of anything else.

Horrible.

This is not something that is compatible with civilization.

And it is a dead end ultimately.

I hope that this event (a life taken too soon) inspires other woman in the area to rise up in her place, as difficult as that may be.

Anger and frustration talking...cant blame him for saying what has probably crossed a lot of our minds lately...probably venting and tired of being PC on topics...I wouldnt take the comments seriously.

More like cowardance and ignorance talking. There are better ways to vent and express frustration.

If they had some beer, porn and some good jobs...they'd spend less time dreaming up ways to kill people, and more time being productive members of the human race.

Mr. Garrison on Southpark pretty much said the same thing.....

Mr. Garrison: Let's all look at why Muslims are upset: [turns and picks up a stick of chalk] First of all, in the Muslim religion, you're not allowed to have what? [no response] Sex. Good. [writes "NO SEX" on the board] There's no sex until marriage in the Muslim world. Now, this would be fine except that in the Muslim religion you also can't... Anybody? [no response] Jack off. [writes "NO JACKING OFF" on the board] Okay, jacking it is strictly forbidden in the Muslim religion. And what do we know about the places Muslims live? They live in? [no response] Good, sand. [writes "SAND" on the board] Now put yourself in the shoes of a Muslim. It's Friday night, but you can't have sex, and you can't jack off. There's sand in your eyes and probably in the crack of your ass, and then some cartoon comes along from a country where people are getting laid, and mocks your prophet. Well you know what? I'd be pretty pissed off too!

There is truth to it.

Repressiveness and totalitarian theocracy are not how humans are supposed to live. So they want to escape, they path provided is "martyrdom" to paradise of course with a suicide bomb.

The 911 hijackers were doing all kinds of naughty stuff before they did what they did. Because all would be forgiven later. But they wanted so badly to do those things.

Exactly.
The conditions are all there to breed walking bombs.
It just takes a few people to start the snowball rolling and then it gets out of control.

I heard an interview many months ago with a former(now reformed) terrorist in which he spoke of exactly what you guys are now discussing. In order to get these lemmings to blow themselves up, they are first denied any physical pleasures on earth, and then promised all the pleasures of the flesh in the afterlife.

This, according to the former terrorist, was instilled from a very young age, just like Hitler Youth. That explains why it is so difficult for any of these people to think differently than what they were taught, and why they will not hesitate to blow themselves up.

They have nothing to lose, but the frustration of decades of self-denial.

Sadly, neither was she. Her obituary in the Financial Times had a quote from her that she expected this. Just awful.

It sounds like you're saying she was looking for trouble.
I don't see why she should be afraid to live her life?
Apparently she didn't either.
She had alot of balls, and should be honored for not backing down to threats of cowards who are bent on causing chaos. It's unfortunate she met her end so suddenly, and I think the terrorists won the battle today but the war isn't over.
Hopefully she will have inspired other people to want an end to this madness.

What I mean is, after the first bombing, beef up security a bit. From what I read, the guy who did it got close enough to shoot her twice before blowing himself up? Hard to police crowds etc, but how did someone get that close?

Anybody that`s out in the public is a target by having big and or lots of bodyguards that just lessens the chance of someone getting close.
If you think about it anyone with their picture taken could just as easily have been in the crosshairs of a snipers rifle.
The fact of the matter is that if you`re too scared to live what kind of life is that?
