Should I get ROCK BAND or GUITAR HERO (I, II, or III) for my PS2?

I have a ps2 and want to get one of the above party/music games.

Which one do you recommend?

If you're playing solo or with 2 consistently, GH 2 or 3 (I never played 1, so...).

Rock Band is a lesser game until you have 3-4 people. If you have 3-4 consistenly, you'll want to spring for rock band AND GH 2/3 to pick up a set of guitars.

Well, we have Guitar Hero III for the XBox 360 and I got the kids Rock Band for the 360 this Christmas. You can't go wrong with either game. If you've got a couple of kids Rock Band is awesome! My kids and I had a band going and it was a total blast. The drums are awesome.

If you can upgrade to a 360 or a PS3 that would be a great way to go. Both systems rock.

I don't think the guitar will carry over much to actual guitar playing but you can certainly work on your rhythm with the drums.

I only have 1 child and it's Guitar Hero 3 for us. Problem is I can't even play on the medium setting :banghead:

I don't think the guitar will carry over much to actual guitar playing but you can certainly work on your rhythm with the drums.

From what I've seen, playing the guitar on Rock Band or Guitar Hero could increase the strength in your forearm and fingers, it could also teach you a little about strumming rhythm, but that's it.

The drums on the other hand, they're a fairly authentic experience if you crank it up to Expert.

I had all 4 Guitar Hero games for the PS2 (including Rocks the 80's).

If you've never played Guitar Hero before then the first game is the best to start with.

I found that the difficulty curve is not as steep as the other games.

I sold all 4 last month and picked it up on the 360 instead due to the downloadable content avalaible.

I do miss playing some of the songs on Guitar Hero 1 though as only 12 are available on Xbox Live. :(

Your not wrong there, plus the notes come at you twice as fast on the hard level.

Me too, I got a ps2 just so I could play the other 3, even though I am trying to gain on the difficulty level I do get tired of playing the same songs.
