Oh yeah another goner! Man at this rate I'll have to take out a second mortage if I wanted those first statues. Man if you think about it your looking at what, close to if not over, 10G for the early ones.

At the prices that some of these things are fetching, and the desire of many to have them, I was wondering if sideshow will make statues of the wiki or the trolls, just in different poses. I think there is a better chance for the wiki to be made since there really isn't much of a way to have a "different" cave troll statue. Of course they did do the balrog, just much smaller. Maybe a smaler stone troll?

Sorry, I meant to say cave troll above. I must have stone trolls on the brain.

Yep, it's amazing what people will pay for a statue. We just acquired another full-size Balrog at (of all places) a crafter's mall in Grapevine, Tx. on 'sale' for $270.00. A friend was with his wife and saw it, called us and wanted to know if we wanted it or if it was a good deal (he's into motorcycle sales, what can I say). Anyway we'll be doing a 10 day auction on Ebay next week to see what it brings and we'll probably start it out at around $2000.00.

I just went and searched completed auctions for the first 5 or 6 LOTR statues and I added up roughly 15K to get them...and that is with the Cave Troll going for a measly 1800.... , Holy Crap no wonder Zurb made a Robert Redford type "indecent proposal"

I watched these other auctions go tonight and all I can say is, daaaaayyyaaaaammmmmm! The prices are out of control! These 2 and 2 others all ended within 20 minutes of each other. The Burning of the Tax Money continues.

it's way too much to pay.

In actuality the Cave Troll should be more than the Balrog....they made only 750 cave trolls and 1000 balrogs

in my opinion the cave troll is the nicest lotr statue they ever made

Aside from the low edition size, to me the most appealing thing about the Cave Troll is how it is so symbollic, iconic even, of the entire Sideshow line. Sure, the RWoS or the Stone Trolls and some others may be more representational of the movie trilogy and perhaps even of LoTR itself, but for me nothing captures the magic of the Sideshow line of statues quite like the Cavey. The size alone is awesome and the sense of raw power and rage is incredible.

I remember first opening up my Cavey and thinking, "Wooah, this ain't no stinking action figure!" It was just sooo cool! If I had to show just one Sideshow Weta statue to someone to explain why this line is so addictive, it would be Cavey, hands down. I don't know what my selling point is for this guy, but we're not close to it yet.
