I'm hoping that mine wasn't working because the battery was low. Is that possible?

It's working again when I don't plug it in all the way.

is this on a wireless remote?

for me there's a different connector type on the 5D/30D which doesn't fit quite securely. i've noticed that it gets loose and loses connection. i just reseat it to fix it. no problems with the remote switch on my XTi. i much prefer the connector type on that one.

It's not a wireless. What has me worried is that it's the XTi, not the $4.99 cord. I have to practically pull it out of the socket to make it work. Thoughts?

I am guessing it is the remote. The one I use is pretty cheaply made and I always have problem connecting it securely.
