Mandarin is pretty powerful. He's just been out of circulation for a while. I think he's a pretty good arch-enemy.

I think Mandarin is truly one of IM's deadliest foes. A mastermind w/ 10 deadly rings...watch out!!
No one else comes to mind except Justin Hammer but he hired criminals/villains to do his "fighting" for him. He was a truly ruthless businessman IMO that gave IM/Tony Stark some fits.

Based on what I just read in the Iron-Man comic this week Granpa... I would say Mandarin is quite the capable arch enemy!

It would seem that the powers that be will be ramping up IM's villains for the foreseeable future to coincide with the release of the IM movie. Fing Fang Foom is returning to the villainous stable after being more a source of comedy than fear.

Mandarin is a good but underused villain.
I do think that IM needs a better arch-enemy, though, just overall.

Grandpa, there's only 2 dominant villians in MU.
Doctor Doom and Magneto. if it's any conselation(sp)
Mandarin was in the AOV. no Avenger villian though. the
Avengers are the one that needs a DOMINANT villian.
but I know what you're talking about. and no, he doesn't. he's just underused.

Hal I said DOMINANT not most powerful. Doom and Mags is no. 1 and 2. Thanos can beat both but he's only used in events. like the Infinity things. like that.

I think that the Mandarin fits the bill but he's been under used. Didn't he at one time run the Hand? That alone opens up a whole avenue of stories that could make him the next Red Skull or Kingpin.

Nope, Iron man's greatest villain is Johnny Walker. (somebody had to do this)
