William, how happy were you with the sin city marv you did, i'm a big frank miller fan, and searching around for any statues that had anything to do with it i stumbled upon yours (looks like you are the only guy that does the characters i like) anyway, the pictures i have seen of it don't show it up that well and i just wondered what your thoughts on it are?

It's one piece that I still like a lot. Here's a couple pix that show him pretty well I think.

Is that a kit or a statue?

Also, I was doing the Kurt Russell thread in the movie section and I was wondering if William or anyone had done any of his characters, i.e. Snake Plisken or R J MacReady?

Statue.

Never have done Russell, but if I did it would be Plisken. THE THING is the better flick, but Snake offers a much more meaty character to render.

I always wanted to do him sans shirt, holding the spiked club from the fight with Ox Baker.

I would definitely buy one of those! :buttrock:
I also think you are right, the Thing is a better movie, but RJ MacReady is just a regular looking guy and would probably look too much like GI Joe or something. Unless you did him in his sunglasses and funky helicopter flying hat, that would be pretty cool. Maybe give him the gun :buttrock:

Oh yeah!! With the big ass hat, that would be kewl!

All you need to do for that image is a bust. Hmm...got me thinkin', bub.

Yeah actually a bust would be better, and less expensive. Either as a prepaint or a kit. Don't underestimate the potential market. There is a whole group of guys that go to a "Thing" website on a regular basis. It is here

http://www.outpost31.com/

Maybe you could get ReelArt or Model Giants to pick it up, or just sell it yourself. I'd get one for sure and probably Hellboyce and a few others too.

Nbr3, not so much.

I would argue it is impossible to HIJACK a thread when talking about THE THING.:buttrock:

I'm at least as big a fan as you guys, believe it or not. I was 18 when that was in the theaters. I saw it three times on the big screen. I also used to belong to a video store back in those days and my best friend and I would rent two or three horror flicks every week. THE THING was a "go to" rental, that we would rent over and over, if there wasn't something else interesting available.

Don't tell anyone else this, but I've probably seen it close to a hundred times. Fit me for a straight jacket, please.

Consider it a labor of love then. If you made a RJ MacReady bust in his bomber jacket, shades, and that big a$$ hat I would buy at least two (I know another guy that would take one without question so I would take one for him), Hellboyce, and you make 4, and that's not even getting outside this thread. Post a pic and a link where they could buy one in the outpost31.com site and you would have another bunch of buyers.

I think they would sell great, maybe some of the independent resin producers could help you out, I know with licensing issues you probably couldn't go through ReelArt or Model Giants like I suggested earlier.

Consider it a labor of love then.

You know, this film itself is not only a personal favorite simply as a great movie, but Rob Bottin's SPFX work was an enormous inspiration for me as a sculptor. It's no secret that my true passion is horror and all things freakish, deformed and rotten.:buttrock:

One of my favorite statues, and yes, Bottin's work was amazing, I love watching the behind the scenes on how he came up with that stuff.

and also the commentary to the film with carpenter and russell is hilarious, you can hear the ice chinking in their glasses as they slowly get pi$$ed

Hartigan is coming.

That's awesome... can't wait! Marv is one of my fav sculpts so I thrilled when Hartigan was first solicited and equally dismayed when it didn't come out.

I'll echo Bulls here... are there any others in the line like Miho planned?

It's great to hear that the Hartigan is still coming.

I'd personally love to see a Dwight, Miho and Wallace sometime too.

Still no Hartigan news too report? I re-watched Sin City on my blu ray player recently... looked unbelievably fantastic, so naturally it made wonder if the old man with the bad ticker was still being produced.
