View Full Version : A solution to the DATABASE ERROR situation.

Well, I realize that we are all frustrated with the increasing frequency of database error messages that come up on our screens when trying to access Statue Forum.

Regrettably, it is not an easy or inexpensive problem to fix.

To give the administrators some time to deal properly with the situation, I feel it falls upon US…the Statue Forum community…to do all that we can to assist during this frustrating time.

I propose that we each write down the date that we joined statue forum in numerical form (March, 2006 = 03/06). MULTIPLY the date figure by the YEAR figure. (03 X 06 = 18). Once you have come up with this number, divide this number into your post count (23855 / 18 = 1325)…Please round UP or DOWN as needed. Now, take this number (in my case 1325), and DIVIDE THAT by your average daily post count (In my case 18)…1325 / 18 = 74 (again rounding up or down as needed.)

This equation gives you your MAIN MEMBERSHIP NUMBER… (In my case 74)

If your MAIN MEMBERSHIP NUMBER is EVEN…you should only post on EVEN numbered days WEEKDAYS. You CAN post on EVEN numbered days between the hours of 2am and 6am EST-USA.

If your MAIN MEMBERSHIP NUMBER is ODD…you should only post on ODD numbered days of the week. You CAN post on ODD numbered days between the hours of 2am and 6am EST-USA.

WEEKENDS (at this point) are WIDE open.

In light of the fact that the equation used to reach your MAIN MEMBERSHIP NUMBER is partly based on your post count, which is a fluctuation variable, you must re-work the equation every day to see what your new MM# is for that day. This way you are not “stuck” only posting on certain days, or with certain other members of the community. Everyone’s assigned days and times will be changing daily!

I would like to thank you all for your support of this idea, and I hope this will lighten the load on the existing server until such a time that a more permanent solution can be reached!

I'd love to comply but, due to a calculator error, I can only execute such functions every 2nd Tuesday of months with 3 or more syllables between the hours of 7:42 am and 11:39 am. Not too arduous, I know, but here's the kicker... the time zone fluxuates based on an algorythm originally developed and used to determine the mating frequency of the Himalayan Yak. So I never truly know when my window actually is. :banghead:

I'll do my best, but apologize in advance to the Mods for any unintentional infringement on this request.

Man, that's a lot of math. All I know is that the database errors have been worse than ever during the past three days. :(

It really is! I had no idea until, unbeknowst to me, my calculator made me aware of it. The big problem is that the issue is under the radar right now... no American Idol shows dedicated to this , no images of Brad & Angelina adopting any Yaks and bringing them back to the US to mate. Who's going to be their voice before its too late? WHO?!

Maybe we can get Randy to be the spokesman for this cause? But how are we going to ask him without crashing the database?

The things with which we, the Statue Fourm members, must endure... :bawling:

Wouldn't e-mail have been a wiser choice given the odds that there will be a database error when Danny attempts to log on to check his PM's?

i have an issue with this for 2 reasons

1. i did not start collectiong marvel statues to enter a algerbra class.

2. i do use this forum to talk to friends. what is i am even and they are odd. That would just drive a wedge between us. then it would be the even against the odds. Hasn't our country fought enuff. Can't we all just get along. :bawling:

How about just upgrading the server? Why are we sharing with a Transformers forum?

Isn't that what these ads and adamantium membership fees are supposed to be paying for?

That was a good joke!!

Here is one of my favorite skits from Monty Python The Meaning of Life!

Headmaster: All right, settle down, settle down. [He puts his
papers down.] Now before I begin the lesson will those of you
who are playing in the match this afternoon move your clothes
down on to the lower peg immediately after lunch before you
write your letter home, if you're not getting your hair cut,
unless you've got a younger brother who is going out this
weekend as the guest of another boy, in which case collect his
note before lunch, put it in your letter after you've had your
hair cut, and make sure he moves your clothes down onto the
lower peg for you. Now...

Wymer: Sir?

Headmaster: Yes, Wymer?

Wymer: My younger brother's going out with Dibble this weekend,
sir, but I'm not having my hair cut today sir, so do I move my
clothes down or...

Headmaster: I do wish you'd listen, Wymer, it's perfectly simple.
If you're not getting your hair cut, you don't have to move
your brother's clothes down to the lower peg, you simply
collect his note before lunch after you've done your scripture
prep when you've written your letter home before rest, move
your own clothes on to the lower peg, greet the visitors, and
report to Mr Viney that you've had your chit signed. Now,
sex... sex, sex, sex, where were we?

I am assuming you weren't serious! LOL! :D

WTF

Here's a simpler solution. If your SF ID starts with an "even" letter (b,d,f,h...) you can post on even numbered days. "Odd" letter (a,c,e,g...) IDs can only post on odd numbered days.

:tounge:

Hey, & on the brighter side, post counts haven't been dropping in a *LOOOOOOONG* time :rolleyes2
