Sam I know you train in MMA but if or have you ever been in a street fight do you hold back or do you aim for all the pressure points in hopes of seriously teaching the fool a lesson?

I realize street fights should be avoided at all cost but sometimes morons want to push their luck.

There is no such thing as aiming in a street fights, in my years as a bouncer and a police officer every single streetfight I've been in is an absolute cluster**** and usually over in 30 seconds or less, and most often you get as injured as the guy you are fighting (i broke my hand once punching a guy in the face). One time I nailed a guy in the charley horse with a round kick, and you hope to hit the solar pelexus or the throat or the nose but usually it becomes a cluster**** and you pray your training kicks in enough that you don't get killed.

Unless you are police/military/or some type of security where you have to fight I highly recommend avoiding fights as much as possible, the possiblity of a brain injury or something else is way to high to risk it.

always wondered how does a police officer word the fighting in the reports to make the fighting reasonable force?

there are certain "levels of force" you go through to justify what you do, and when you write your report you explain where your use of force fell as far as justifiable levels, and what your justification was for going to that level of force. Lethal force is the highest level of force, and raising your voice could be considered the lowest level. At least in the state I was a cop in (wisconsin), It probably varies state to state.

I am not saying that pressure pionts are a myth but I will say that I have had several " pressure point experts" come to our classes and be given free rain to apply these techniques such as " I am going to give you 1 minute without me fighting back to allow you to apply one of your holds or pressure points" Every time , after 50 seconds of I don't know what they were doing, we would all start a 10 second countdown were our teamate would then proceed to wipe the floor with the "multiple black belt martial arts master"

Sam is right when he says avoid fight when ever possible. Since I have been training MMA I have never had to use it except in practice but it is nice knowing that if my family was ever in danger that I would have a better chance to help them.

I didn't know you were ever a police officer. Dude, I'm gonna have to watch my public intoxication at San Diego Comic-Con this year.

I wouldn't worry. Super Troopers is my favorite cop movie.

Well, not really, Michael Mann's Heat is, but Super Troopers is up there...
