Halloween will be here before we know it and I'm looking to add a new character to my outdoor display. Anyone know where I can get a mannequin cheap?

They are really expensive. I searched and searched(in the days before internet) many moons ago, because I wanted to make a freaky looking one with the mouth cut open, like in that Chuck Connors flick, TOURIST TRAP. I crapped out and eventually gave up looking. Good luck with it.

I know I've seen them going for about $600.00 and up. One site had 6' black male mannequins on sale for about $300.00. That was months ago though and I can't remember what site it was.

Found a place 15 minutes away from me that has unbelievable prices on mannequins.

By Halloween this 6' 2" guy will be standing on my lawn as Michael Myers.

I must have bought their last new one for $119.00 because the demo is up for sale on their site for $89.00 + $31.00 shipping.

I'm always looking for mannaquins for my Halloween display too. LOL Thought I was the only one. Found two last year in a pile of leaves in front of somebody's house. (My wife does an impression of the pour soul running back out after peeing to get the mannaquins they had to leave in a hurry. She's kidding).

What I do in a pinch is use my hanging-basket, shephard's hooks from my garden. I duct-tape a styrofoam wig head on one, some padding and an old coat. Ready for a mask after that.

= a pretty stable monster base.

I don't know about Manniquins, but,
ask the nameless one (AKA Nacho Libre).
He has a ****-load of used blow-up dolls you can have, cheap.
And you can borrow my Steam Power Washer.

Patrick and any other Halloween yard decorators. Do you strike your display Halloween Night after the festivities have ended for the evening? I do 'cause I'm worried about thieves. I use high-end masks and would just freak if any were stolen.
It's a total p.i.a., but I feel I have to. I clean up everything and don't usually end up getting to be 'til 4am.
How do you handle your display once you go in for the evening?

For fear of theft and the fact that most of my outdoor stuff is not weather proof it goes out on Halloween morning. This includes strobe lights, fog machines, a projector, sound effects, a witch, a working electric chair, a coffin, a demon, and some other stuff.

The indoor stuff I set up towards the end of Sept. This includes blinking eyes, Silhouettes, and an 18" Living Dead Doll Posey which I turned into a ghost girl using a blacked out window box and a small strobe light.

Man,Oh,Man,Oh,Chevitz - I tip my hat to you Patrick. Beautiful Yard. No doubt about it!

My yard is just now, getting to that point. One of the differences is that I set mine' up on Halloween proper. I just can't risk the luxury of the 2 to 3 day set up, 'cause I'm worried about vandals and thieves.
I set up on the 30th. Pop the mask/heads and high-end haunts off that(10/30) night, re-stage Halloween (10/31)a.m. and just stay w/ it 'till Halloween, late-night.
I set up an outside bar on Halloween evening. All the Dads show up after trick 'r treating w/ the kids for Manhattans and we sit in my graveyard toasting All Hallow's Eve. 'til it's all over. It's usually me, and a couple of hardcore dads by the end.
Once I pull the plug on the evening, I'm stuck w/ clean up. That'll last 'til 4am, where I'll swear that this is the last year...........I'm currently planning my '08 yard. So, I guess I'll stop when I'm dead.

Thanks!

Like I said I set up all my outside stuff on Halloween too.

We start planning for next year the day after Halloween trying to figure out how things can be improved or what to add or take away the following year.

The place I listed studiorox.com has unbelievably low prices on mannequins. I only paid $119.00 for my Michael Myers wannabe mannequin, stay tuned for pics. I just bought the coveralls last night, now all I need it the right mask.

So did anyone here buy the demo mannequin for $89.00 that Studiorox had up?

OK, here's Michael so far. Looks cool from this angle but he really needs to be bulked up more, especially in the legs.

He's only been up for about a week and he's freakin' my wife out, she gets up for work at 4am.

About 2am the other night I got up to go to the bathroom and I could have swore he turned to look at me.

Nice, Patrick! Though you're right; Myers looks a little trim. But still, in the dark? Yikes.

Great display--my daughters don't like the scary side of Halloween (yet), so we don't decorate much. Good seeing what you guys do!

Ha, my kids are just past the age where they's be scared of real spooky stuff for Halloween. I just didn't give them a choice :eplus2: . They've been mildly exposed to this stuff sinse they learned to walk. Just this past weekend, I took my 6 year old son and 8 year old daughter to a Horror Con. Both went right up to Tom Savini (horror fx master and Director of a few horror movies) and introduced themselves as fans. Decorating our front-yard graveyard on 10/30 has become a family affair....good times, I tells ya.

My son is 3 and has no idea who Michael Myers is so he's not effected by it one bit. My witch in the other hand he's a little hesitant of.

Post pics of your display this year, I look forward to seeing it.

Pat,
My mother wore the Michael Myers mask and coveralls and sat in the porch one year motionless... and scared the hell out of the kids when they walked up to trick or treat.

That's cool.

My wife said I should dress up.

I was thinking about being one of the guys from Slipknot.

They're pretty scary.

I agree with your wife...

Leave the mannequin set up, but on halloween you put the outfit on.

when it comes to mannequins I usually ask the studio where they make them if they have a graveyard I can rummage through and they will sell the broken or the ones with missing pieces pretty cheap. It is a Halloween display after all, a severed arm or leg can only add more ha ha

This site (http://www.halloweenmonsterlist.info/) has some pretty neat ideas for Halloween projects, a lot of them on the cheap.

And since this is one of my favorite holidays, here's a link to my haunt from last year:

Haha, nice Pat! Mike looks dope, but yeah, I agree he needs bulked up a bit. You should make him monster scary like the Mike Myers in Zombie's rendition of Halloween.

Oh if you're gonna be one of the Slipknot dudes, you gotta be the tall ass guitar player, his mask is pretty creepy cool. lol

Cool stuff, I really like your Creature vs. Predator and Frankenstein vs. Alien pieces.

That cemetary is way out of my league, that guy must have dropped some serious coin on those props.
