Hey guys,

I just thought I would get a thread going to get support for a space for Bobby Causey and Bob Dullam. Their names have been circulated from the inception of the "professionals" section. And their work speaks volumes for talent and technique in the industry. Here's their website for anyone who doesn't know them (if that's possible)

http://www.dullam-causey.com/

Both Bobs have been posting in various other sectins in the forum. Let's vote to get them their own space!

I don't know why oh why isn't The Bobby's with their own space already. They are the very best out there in what they do. They don't need polls, they don't need to "ask". People should see as a privilege to have such awesome artists showing their work here.

What does having "their own space" mean, both for them and the forum?

Vader
06-19-2008, 10:20 AM
It means they will have a section dedicated to their work. It will mean more progress work posted by the sculptor (hopefully), and a location where the sculptor can discuss their work and where forum members can directly ask them questions.

Bob Aboey
06-19-2008, 10:26 AM
I was completely oblivious to them prior to today and, after looking at their site, am very impressed with their work.

Only reason I asked is that I'd love to see sections for people like Mark Newman and Edinho Magha as well and was curious if these sections are only doled out on a super-limited basis.

Based on their work, I'd vote yes. Are they Forum regulars?

Vader
06-19-2008, 10:30 AM
They are forum members and do post in the sculptors section on and off. There has been support for them having a space for some time. Just not happened yet. I agree Newman deserves a space. I don't know Magha's work.

Bob Aboey
06-19-2008, 10:39 AM
Cool! Looking forward to seeing more from them.

Edinho recently did a Rambo statue that was picked up and Sly himself gave the piece a thumbs up.

He's been at it for a while now, and his stuff if very cool. If you get a chance, look up his stuff on here.

Maybe I should start a "Vote For Mark" thread...

Thanks for turning me on to these guys' work! :thumbs2:

Vader
06-21-2008, 09:54 AM
I received a response from one of the moderators, and I'm grateful for that. The main reason they have not yet received their own section is that the moderators are not sure that this work is "mainstream" enough to represent the interests of the members. Because members collect primarily Bowen, Sideshow, DC, Gentle Giant, etc., this is the focus of the "professionals" section. If people want the focus to expand, they will need to make that clear.

Vader
06-22-2008, 06:49 PM
Maybe pm's to the mods with strong arguments in support of a space for the Bobbys is the way to go. I've sent my pm to Galactus requesting the space.

As I explained, I think the lifesize pieces and custom work is the way this hobby is going. Given the volume of mass produced pieces in the market, many collectors will be turning to the work of artists like Bobby C and Bobb D to get them unique works of art. Not to mention, I'm dying to see progress shots of their work on an ongoing basis. Mike Hill has turned up the heat on the "professionals" section. No doubt these guys would enhance the section significantly.

If anyone has other strong arguments in favour of these artists being represented, they should articulate them, or pm the mods with their position. I think, at this point, the mods are on the fence about it.

Vader
06-22-2008, 10:11 PM
You're asking the wrong guy. I don't really understand it myself. I thought a vote or a thread would demonstrate a genuine member interest. I think the boys (Bobby C and Bobby D) have been posting on the forum for some time now (clearly members of the community). It's a bit like the Academy Awards. Sometimes the ones who truly deserve it just don't get the award.

Here's a shot I just took. this is the afterburner as I just finished up the first half of it. Still have to build the stuff inside the outer hoop. tons of parts inside that hoop. The outer hoop is brushed aluminum that has to be painted. Most of the front section is done, but still have to stick in the guns.
The afterburner was cast off of a clay sculpture of it. There is a second half that connects to it, and rides between the two rear coil-over shocks.

only area I think may need work is the cheekbones yours curves out down the side of the face reeves' curves in ( see pic below for reference). Other than that though I think you`ve pretty much nailed it! another awesome job bobby :buttrock: :thumbs2:

Fantastic job Bobby. Suggestions: Reeves upper lip sometimes looks thinner in the pictures when he's smiling. Also his cheekbones look quite rounded. The sculpt seems slightly more angular.

With the lighting, i'm not even sure my comments are accurate. That being said, its the best likeness of Reeve I've ever seen.

the cheekbone suggestion may show more from this comparison. There's a roundish curve to his upper cheek that may be missing. The roundish cheek makes for a slightly fuller face. Again, its hard to tell with the lighting. You are the expert bobby.

Great critiques guys, I will adress those issues, I have a hard time seeing with this dark clay, it really throws you off.
I wont stop on this until I feel 100% positive on this sculpt.
funny thing is in person the likness is so strong you can almost hear him saying "I like Pink very much "
:)
