Here's a weird question.
How does one shade black? With a deep gray, almost black?

it pays to remember that black is composed of other colors...in fact all of them. that's one of the first things i learned in painting. so if your black is then diluted with another color it would make shading and gradation easier. or you could always layer the black using a glazing technique...i just realized are you talking about paint or in the actual sculpt?

This is for my Kilowog kit, I don't want the black areas to be just flat black, I want to highlite the muscles in some way.

i might suggest mixing black with a dark blue for large areas then using a dark black for shadowing. you also might get more response if you post this in the painter's pit area though...by the by this is a freakin' sick sculpt!!!can't wait to see what you do with it!

Hey Jesse do you have the comart photo grey set? Or even a transparent dark green would work on this piece????

I have some Comart paints, but not the photo gray set, I'll look into it tomorrow.
I like the TG idea :)
