Gainax's Evangelion, quite the trippy and sometimes very hard to interpret show, left me almost angry at the end. I felt like there wasn't any attempt at closure made. Now maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but i have found the answer.

This 6 part fan made manga series entitled "Re-Take" is amazing. The writing is flawless and it follows eva's story perfectly. If you have not seen the show AND watched the move: End of Evangelion, then there is no point to reading this. But any true fan of the show should fall in love with this like I did.

WARNING: Though this is beautifully written and the art is fantastic. there are some brief points of this story in which hentai (japanese pornography) is used. I believe it not to be gratuitous because there is love behind it. however, it gets very very explicit so i'm forewarning you.

I hope you enjoy this like i did
:thumbs2:

There was more of a sense of closure with the movies than with the actual show ending. I understand why it's confusing but what in particular didnt you understand?

Also, you might be happy to know that there's an alternate retelling of Evangelion out now in Japan titled You Are [Not] Alone. So it might make things easier to understand but I havent seen it yet.

I thought the movies made them clear enough? Especially since they're official.

Spoilers if you havent seen the movie....

Did the manga reveal that Asuka at the end was actually an amalgam of the ladies in Shinji's life? :D

Remember...Rei had the eye bandage early in the series...not Asuka.

well that was just a theory, it was never proven. This manga isn't a different ending, it's simply a continuation to the movie, and it's flawless. Really, if you have nothing better to do, you should read it

People have interpreted the ending of the movie in several ways.

It was too cerebral for most i guess.
But i did LOVE the action in the movie ending. :buttrock:

The tv ending reminded me of that special Family Ties episode with Michael J. Fox in that dark room talking to the offscreen "psychiatrist".
