View Full Version : Name This Dog

So, yeah, Lady Death (aka Ororo) and I have picked out names for our yet to be conceived or even seriously contemplated one day maybe son(s), but can't seem to pick out a name for this puppy.

We have a couple of possibilities which I am including in the poll. Before anyone suggests it, Cage and Luke are not possibilities. (Luke being saved for the aforementioned maybe son "Luke Ezekiel" which means "Easy" is also out. Before you say "what kind of name is that?", imagine a linebacker making a vicious tackle and the announcer saying "what a hit by Luke Eeeeaaasy *****!!!”)

Anyway here are the parameters:
The name has to be one or two syllables;
It can't be a name of any of my former dogs:
Beast; Bomber; Thor; Rocky; Ben: Spike; Ranger; Bull; Bear; Moose; Tippy; Butch, or Chemo.

The pup is a male Boxer, and obviously time is of the essence so this poll will close in two days.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I looked at the list of names, picked out a favorite and a least favorite, then scrolled to check out the pics. Turns out, once you see him, the most appropriate name was the one I didn't like.

I kid you not, but long before I was born my father had a boxer named "Eric."

Cute puppy. :)

I like Miles a lot, actually...
(and Miles Davis is the sh!t!! :buttrock:)
Lockjaw.. haha.. nice Steve.
How about Loki? It'd be a fun name, I'd think...haven't heard of many dogs with that name before.
I like Apollo also, more "Zeus" dogs out there than "Apollo" dogs.
How about "Deuce"? He'll be leaving those all over the yard (and possibly your house until he's trained)... haha. :) I kid, I kid.

I had a brother named Miles so I was thinking something else but none of the names listed jumped out at me.

I like

Ceasar or Cajun sticking with a "C" but Cajun might be too close to Cage

Elric would be a cool little used character name as would Kane

Major is good, Elvis, Kronos

I know I know, but I generally like names for pets that aren't as commonly used.

I had to vote other.
I have grown up with Boxers all my life and currently have two..Ajax and Emma frost (she's a white boxer...get it?)
Anyway, if you know Boxers LOKI would be a great name for him. They are the lovable pranksters of dogs!

He looks adorable by the way too!
Good luck, and remember their maturity age is around two years.:thumbs2:

Thanks Jen.
Just please do not name him after another Real Boxer... My brother named one of my old boxer's "Suger Ray" and how many other during the 90's were called tyson. puke!

Also if I'm not mistaken pure bred dogs get two names (or more) on their registration form.

Kaiser Sose would be cool and you could just call him Kaiser :thumbs2:

My next one will be a boy, so it will fit.
Not that I want my guy to pass anytime soon, but he is almost 9 and they do not have a long life. My last boxer (Xena) past away on her 9th birthday.:thumbsdow

I gotta agree with Scott: I'd name this bad boy "Kirby." That would totally rock. :)

Whenever I finally get another Norwegian Elkhound, I've already decided I'm going going to name him "X," in honor of "X-Files" and "X-Men." :) I just don't have the time to take care of a dog right now. :(

I had a Siberian Husky named Rocky when I was a kid. I loved that dog.

I like Miles myself, but another good name would be Fester or Jeb.:thumbs2:

Speaking of famous boxers (or their wives), "Adrian" is a boy's name, but thanks to the Balboas....

But it'll be funny to call out "Yo, Adrian!!!!" in your neighbourhood.

My kids always get to name our dogs, which is how we end up with "Baxter" and "Reno" and I have kids as young as 2 so I won't be naming any dogs for quite a while. I really have wanted to use this though. I've suggested it every time and it gets shot down every time, so it would be nice if somebody got some use out of it.

Well first let me say sorry for checking out, but I wanted to be able to have time to post new pictures and having misplaced the camera for a little while that was a problem and I have been a little busy as of late. Thanks for all of the name suggestions, "Miles" won. I wanted Loki and still think it would have been a perfect fit especially since I had a Norwegian Elkhound named Thor a couple years ago.
But Lady Death liked Miles and it did well in the Poll.

He is now 14 weeks old and goes to daycare three times a week. I have also been taking Friday's off to hang out with him. Since I play on two softball teams and one baseball team he gets a lot of socialization. One of my friends has two boxers that he romps with and of course he gets to see his big brother Rocky (pictured below) quite a bit and they have a ball playing together. Thanks for all of the suggestions and again my apologies for falling off the map.
