I noticed that there are over 2,000 viewers and only 131 members right now. I never thought we'd see so many "lurkers".

I am not suprised by it at all. Some people like to read about informaiton but not contribute, some people want to take time to decide if they want to join a forum or not. Personally I lurked for 3 months before I decided to sign up.

I lurked for around a year before I joined. I didn't know enough about the hobby so really have anything to say other than oh that's cool, or I'd like that

Look at Forum Tools > Who's Online and you'll see it pretty much Spiders who capture and catalog web pages for quicker surfing through the search engines.
