I rarely use water clay(wed- Em217) to sculpt, but here I did. Got this oversized head done in about a day and a half.

Did you sculpt the predator 2 head striclty from photo reference?
Bob D
07-06-2008, 10:38 PM
ya, just photos, and they were not all that clear either. I had to just sort of get the gist of the thing, and go with instinct. I tried to make the mandibles seem as if they were almost broken bones, or disjointed. really sick looking, like a sick dog. and make the skin seem almost like thin hanging skin, with the areas surrounding the dreadlocks like crustations. In other words bring the line that Arnold says in P1, " you one ugly %#%$^#", really mean something. I should have taken it even further than I did.

The Predator 2 head is looking great.
Looking forward to it's progress.

Bob D.,
If you're tweaking the predator 2 head or working on the predator statue, there is a model kit put out by argonauts that is incredibly detailed and accurate. It's a 1/6 sculpt, but it would serve as incredible reference. It is the most accurate predator 2 representation I've seen yet.
I know Lary (gkasylum) on the forum also has the original predator stunt head from the movie. If he could send you pictures, that would be a great reference tool as well.
Chris.

The sculpt is.. o.k. but thanks. I wished I had pushed the gruesomness a little further.
Tough to see skin detail on a heavily painted foam piece(your pics) with black, or dark tones. can't tell sometimes if a crease is a crease or a painted area.
one shot of a left side of raw foam wasn't too bad. got the most out of that one shot.
At one point you may recall I wanted to back out. too many cooks in the kitchen, who really just wanted the original piece in the first place. Not fun at all. If you were supposed to get a pull, you know I don't have the mold, you know who to conctact.
I just now contacted him myself, and told him you were expecting a copy. And if there is ANYTHING else you were supposed to get, A simple reminder in an email will suffice. Go ahead, ask me if I enjoyed the project.
