Yes, Bob C. is that big. deadlifts 800lbs. for reps. I wanted to move the car more towards the center of the garage. He picked it up, first the rear, then the front. scary.

just amazing. Is that beast street legal? Will it drive or is it more of a replica?
Bob D
07-08-2008, 01:49 PM
yes, drivable. street legal, who knows but I'm sure in broad daylight I would get pulled over real soon.
everything has to be scratch built, I could find almost nothing that is an exact part on this car. tough. lotsa work.

Did you have to learn how to build engines for this? or did you already know? And is this engine the same as the movie version of the vehicle?
Bob D
07-09-2008, 10:48 PM
no, you never build the engine per se', you buy either a new, or used/rebuilt engine, or an aftermarket one like an Edelbrock. You then drop it in the chassis, add the drive shaft, linkage, etc.. hookup the brakes. etc..

Vader
07-09-2008, 11:19 PM
Did you know how to install an engine before you did the batmobile? How did you do the research to find out the exact engine they used; etc. Do you have reference shots of the inner engine and just try and figure it out?
Also, are you guys definitely going to do the 1:1 predator 2? And will you do a thread for progress?
That is amazing and could be the ultimate Batman collectable !!

Obviously, the look is there.....what kind of car are you making out of this, Bob's? Horse power, torque, etc.....is this thing going to be strictly a beast of art or will it's balls match it?
Bob D
07-26-2008, 12:16 PM
Am going to run a 454 with nos. it will have 425hp and 475 ftlbs torque at 3200. And on the NOS it will have 552hp and 700ftlbs at 3200. It should spin the back tires, and lift the front end. BALLS.

Daym Bob..sooo Much power...can you really run that at high speeds..it would be just awesome seeing that go down a street Hauling ass..
Bob may i ask you a question..Is someone commisioning that tumbler from you or are you just building it out of passion..the project looks extremely expensive..you must be quite wealthy on top of all the talent..Some guys have all the luck..;)
Bob D

not a commision. not wealthy either. take a close look at the garage. needs fixing up badly.

Bob, what are the panels made of? Fibreglass? Sheet metal? Aluminium? Also, how effective is the shock dampening assembly?
Bob D
10-08-2008, 08:51 PM
Most of the body is epoxy resin re-inforced with either matte, or kevlar, or both. some is steel. I never used aluminum.
by the term damper, that would have to refer to the steering damper, which as of these photos, I don't have on yet. For those not familiar, they are located just below the "Z" like arm sticking out of the front tires.
What they do is when you hit a bump, it sends the tire into a sudden jolt(possibly left, or right). And without the dampers, you might feel it right in your hands in the steering wheel. So if one tire hits a chuck hole that say, throws the tire violently to the right, the damper will smooth that jolt out.

Bob are you going to take any videos of this bad boy starting up, or even drive around in it a bit?
As epic as they are, pictures of this behemoth wont do it justice as much as hearing that engine roar.
Cant imagine the effort, time and genius it takes to take this from sketch to reality, but man alive, thats sheer unadulterated talent right there sir.
