I worked my regular shift from 3:30-11:30 PM yesterday.
Now I'm going in at 7am for 12 or more hours of OT.
Then tomorrow morning 7-3:30.
I'm looking at 20 hours of OT this weekend.
Working 16+ every weekend this month.
In May I hope to get at least 80hrs of OT.
Why?
Besides being crazy, I'm wanting to get the Dead Pool and Venom statues, catch up on my DVD box sets, maybe more tats, and to be sure we can afford to go to SDCC.

Mostly with my work schedule, March and May work out good for extra OT.
Otherwise just the usual 8hrs a week.

Yeah, she had planned on going out with some friends.
I just got home, guess plans didn't work out, so she's on her way home with dinner. :)
As long as I get these comics sorted and picked up, and get the acre of lawn mowed, I think she's alright with it. Hey, I got her a new car, and cutting back on statues. That should keep her happy for awhile.;)

I knew you were just tryin to apeas me for some reason. ;) I guess I am cool with that, as long as it becomes reality in this lifetime. Hopefully we can find a nice used riding lawnmower to make your life a little easier. Be thankful that the other 1/2 acre is taken up by the house and outbuildings. :)
Oh Yeah, and Thanks for the great car honey........... :rolleyes2

I envy you Tattoox, I had overtime breifly in Jan. and my mini-bust reserve fund is slowly going, going, gone! I have to come up with new excuses and incentives to keep my wife happy enough to let me continue buying. One question though, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS LAWN YOU SPEAK OF!!!???...ohwait, is that the thing that surrounds my house and has about 4 inches of freshly fallen white stuff on it. It must be. By this time tomorrow I'll have 66 hours of OT for the month. :)
Won't do too much in April.
Then 80-120 hrs OT in May. :buttrock:
Since it doesn't look like I'll be going to SDCC, I'll still get my credit cards down, and set aside some money for sketches. :thumbs2:

I was thinking of not working 4hrs OT Saturday, but now with the Bowen Exclusives and wanting more artwork, I'll have to. :bawling:
Probably work way more OT this year than I was planning to.
Hong Kong statues, Star Wars busts, artwork, tattoos, conventions, and all the Bowen stuff.
I'm glad I got enough seniority for easy OT. :thumbs2:

The weather was real nice so I decided not to work OT, but I spent about an hour on the forum, and then mowed for about an hour. Checked the forum again and a thunderstorm came in. Lost DSL, and way to wet to do anything else outside. In the morning starts BLACK MAY.

Years ago, I figured a 10 day payperiod was $XX. Every 8hr shift of OT was $ZZ more of take home. But that 3 day of OT was always half of $ZZ. 4th day was back at 4x $ZZ.
And there's ways to be sure to take home more, but the snitches and the IRS employees on board are watching. "Somebody's Watching Me.";)

They do, when they can, but they're all morons. They can't even get enough people to work OT. And when they do, they cancel. Work them to death all week, and expect them to do it again for 8 hrs.
I got the brains and seniority that I can get as much OT as I want, and not have to do my 40 hr a week job.
Tonight I'll be welding. Yesterday I changed hog knives and checked equipment settings.
Yes, I work too much. Yes, this is blog. :)

Co-pilot Chewie's BLog, hell date 10/6.
Completed another 5 hrs OT. No burns or singed hair.
Looks like I'll be getting in 35hrs per week for the next 3 weeks.
Two friends work with me. One will get around 31hrs a week. He's been doing that for several weeks. Hawaii vacation.
The other guy is looking at 25hrs a week.

I'm an OT w h o r e too!
I used to work 2 hrs ot everynight, 4 hours in the summer months, PLUS Saturdays and the ocassional Sunday!
All the OT has dried up. Going on 1 year now with very little OT. Hoping when they implement fiber cable the OT will pick up again.

I'll have 96 regular hours and 55.5 OT hours for this pay half.
That's 122.5 hrs OT for May. 300.5 hrs OT for the year. I hope the remainder of the year will be less OT hours.
Should be able to get some DVD box sets next week. :buttrock:

I put in 20hrs OT this weekend. And may get up to 8hrs in the morning.
Plan to get a minimum of 40hrs OT for this pay half.
That will help catch up on some bills, and have extra cash for the Portland convention next month.
Then at the end of next month I'll try for 40+hrs again for Xmas. :)

While it is possible to do crazy over-time hours for a couple of months, you have to keep in mind what this will end up "costing" you in other aspects of your life. At 80 hours a week all you do is sleep (some), travel, work, travel, sleep (some), travel, work, and so on with eat thrown in where you can.
Hope things work out for you, but remember money isn't everything and none of us are getting any younger. :)
Well said, unfortunatey thats pretty much been my life for the last 3 years. However all that should(fingers crossed)come to an end by Feb of 06.For me it is a mix of OT(mandatory)and travel time to and from work.
Tattoo-X
09-05-2005, 09:36 AM
That's a two week pay period, so it's not all that bad. If the weekend falls right, I can get 40hrs OT just by working 8hr shifts every day. And I'm only 5 minutes from work. Gotta leave in 5 minutes.;)

When I was a logger, I sometimes had to travel 2hrs+ one way, without pay.
Just finished a 29hr OT weekend. It was easy today, but that made me feel even more sleepy. Think I'll go for 48hrs this pay period and 24 next. :)
I work every Sunday OT, but I'll take one off in Oct for the Portland show. Think that will be a 16hr OT pay period, and finish next month off with 40hrs OT.
The remainder of the year will be 16-24hr average.
I'll be taking a few days off at Thanksgiving and hopefull at Xmas. Just depends on my seniority and who else is thinking about taking time off then.

I'm at it again. Worked 4 12hr shifts this week, finishing the week with 8hrs at 11:30PM yesterday. Get a few hours sleep and go back in a 7AM for 8hrs OT, and again Sunday morning. 54-58hrs OT for the pay period that ended on the 15th. New time keeping system might count 4hrs OT on the morning of the 16th (worked 11:30PM to 3:30AM). Anyway, I should finish the month with 80-88hrs OT. :buttrock:
That will cover Deadpool, and a sketch or two at the Portland show next month. :buttrock: Rest goes to the credit cards. :bawling:

I will work 4 hours over on Saturday, but that will only give me 16hrs OT to finish the pay period, since I took last Sunday off for the convention.
Sunday starts a new pay period. 2 Sat and 3 Sun, and being back on swing will give me an easy 40hrs OT. Now I may work 4 over on both Sat, and maybe 4 over twice a week. So that may give me a total of 64hrs OT for that pay period. Which is a Nov. 10th payday.
I plan to get pics done of our nieces, have someone pic up an XMas gift for Tat S from Ebay, get some DVDs, pay for upcoming items, and save $200 for December, because I'm taking a few extra days off at Thanksgiving. :buttrock:
Then I'm broke again. :banghead:

Anyway, just finished 41 working days straight. :buttrock:
Including a few 12hr shifts, plus this week I got 8-12hrs of free OT.
Company made a few mistakes. Didn't give me OT when they should, so I called them on it. :eplus2:
Now I'll take a few days off.
8 days, but 4hrs OT on Thur and Fri.
Going to try and take most of a week off at Xmas also.
Get some cards put away, and work on some models, customs, and/or sculpts.

Update.
Ended 2005 with OT, and started 2006 with OT.
End of February I averaged 7.85hrs of work a day.
It has to be more than that now.
Jan. 64hrs OT
Feb. 64hrs OT
Mar. 64hrs OT as of today. Will have 40 more.
Arp. Hoping for 120+hrs OT
End of 2004 I said I was going to cut back.
Don't think I did.
Made $2000 or so more in 2005.
Averaged 61hrs OT a month.
2006 is looking like it will be even more, but I plan on cutting back after June.
Two more conventions and paying off a loan first.

I only had 56hrs in the beginning of of March.
But I'll have 64hrs by Saturday.
Shooting for another 64hrs during the next pay period.
May be a little tough though, since I've decided to take the last weekend off work.
This week I've worked 8, 12, 16, and 12 hour days so far.
Not looking forward to the rest of the week, 16, 12, and 8hrs.
But it must be done to afford new pieces, conventions, and a few other things.
