Project #2 ... more work needed so I need some help

Any good tutorials on prepping, pinning, gap filling …. Etc. for kits? My first paintup did not require any of this and I am looking at a few projects that will need some prep work. I would love to pick up any magazines that have articles …. Any guidance from the experts out there?
