View Full Version : This Week's Comics Reviews
Hey gang, just wanted to let you know what's up for this week's comics reviews.
Sam Wilson and I were cooking up an Avengers-themed set of reviews for the week New Avengers #4 was to be published. But, now that it’s delayed a second week (Boo!), Sam and I decided to go ahead with our Avengers theme anyway. So, we’ll be reviewing titles for Avengers characters past (Hulk, Black Panther), present (Captain America) future (Wolverine), and even alternative universes (Ultimates)...plus hitting you with reviews of two classic Avengers trades/GNs.
However, due to the Dreaded Deadline Doom (any 70s Marvel fan's remember that editorial lament?) on my end...massive piece of business I'm working this week to land...we are not going to be able to get our reviews out on Thurs. Sam was a real partner and insisted we do them together. Soooooooo....we'll be posting them here on Friday.
Thanks!
:thumbs2:
Ba-Dum-Bump! For those of you who've responded so kindly to our reviews.

And if you got a problem with that I'll come to your house and rip up all your x-men.
Well, no I won't. But I'll think about it. Real hard.

Considering that the X-Men make up about .035 percent of my collection I do not think I will be missing much. If I really like the reviews will you come over and help me inventory, I'm a little over a year behind. :D

Sure. Only if you help me inventory. I haven't organized anything in about 15 years. :eplus2:

Guys, as I don't pick up any monthly series, I do appreciate your reviews for keeping me informed on what's going on. With that said, if anyone needs something to tide you over until Friday, I offer here my review of the Dark Horse trade paperback Conan: the Frost Giant's Daughter and Other Stories...
In this $15.95 book, collecting issues 0 - 7, Conan kills lots of people. Brilliant stuff, highly recommended.
*In all honesty, I haven't read it yet, but I expect it to be completely worthwhile. :D

Will there be a full series of the "mini-heads"? Just Spidey and Hulk so far, right?
That Batman B&W statue is sweet.

I don't know if there will be a full series of heads or not. I hope there is. Has anyone seen anymore get solicited yet? I only have four of the big ones, but I'd buy all of the little ones.
I forgot to include BRB: Stormbreaker as part of our reviews. For our Avengers-themed week, though he's not an Avenger he's helped out earth's heroes before and is our Thor subsititute given the Thunder God's current status in limbo.

I'd get all the Alex Ross mini-busts, too--I like the Spidey one better in the smaller size, actually, and the Hulk one is just awesome! I'm really hoping they do the Thing...that one is great, too.
The Conan collected came out in both HC and TPB today--the HC looks great, but both are fantastic reads.

In all seriousness, has anyone picked up a book because we positively reviewed it? I'm just curious. Thanks.
I picked up the Living Monolith OGN!

Same here. That and the TPBK thread made that choice.

My picks for the Week:
Marvel Masterworks: Fantastic Four 8 (Good ol' Lee/Kriby reading)
Stormbringer: Saga Beta Ray Bill (BEST OF THE WEEK!)
Hulk (I'm so glad Peter David's back on this book. C'mon, Hulk vs Fin Fang Foom, nuff said)
Ultimate Spiderman (Good consistent read.)
Wolverine (OK issue. Moves the storyline along)
Ultimate X-men (why am I still picking this up? Soon to be dropped)

I'm so glad someone FINNALY got that reference. Well, maybe you all did, but just wanted to keep me wondering...
It's from John Byrne's She Hulk series if anyone cares. (well, someone does, apparently, sniff :( )
