Sculpting action figures from scratch

I bought a book called Babes, Beasts, and Brawn: Sculpting the fantastic. In it it had different types of mock ups of action figures and statues. At the end of the book they showed the process of sculpting an Action Figure from start to finish. There were pictures of armature and these rounded ends that I assume is the joint ends. My question is what are those called and how can I get some?

I don't know where to get the joints you ask for...i might pm someone like john cleary. he is a member here that makes awesome action figures and he might be able to help you. how is that book btw, and how much was it? sounds interesting...good luck!

The book was called Babes, Beasts, and Brawn: Sculpting the fantastic. I paid 20 bucks for it, but it can be had for less on Amazon. Its has info on the industry of toys from the sculptors point of view. Though now most of the figures in the book are very old, the book itself is very informative. I'll pm John. Thanks for the tip.

The flat disc shaped pieces can be drilled and cut from plastic rod stock on a lathe. The clear sphere shapes are acrylic balls. You can get them from Plastruct and other sources.
