Your work stands out, no matter what the subject matter. I think its great you've taken on JC. He's under represented these days. Superman is but a mere reflection of the hope that Christ stands for.
Was this a personal project, or a commission?

Great. I'd love to know the details. Can't imagine what you could do with a crucifixion scene or a Pieta style piece.

As always beautiful! It's good to see the "real" big guy getting some attention!

That's again amazing , not the first character that comes in mind when thinking of your art style but you pull it of and make it a great piece anyway .

Wow! I echo the sentiments here. Amazing piece. Not my first choice of character, but the fact that it's Williams and it's going to be available, definitely makes me want it. You could sculpt the phone book William and I would buy it.
So when you say this is going to be available, how do you mean? Are we going to have to go to our nearest religious supply store? I assume this will be a finished piece?

The business infrastructure is in the construction phase as we speak. My partner is developing the nuts and bolts, including distribution and direct sales models.
The piece will be fully finished. It is still in question as to where I go with paint application. I'm not taking a vote on that I just need to see what works. The sculpture itself will remain somewhat loose in finish to illustrate a metaphor of the hand of creation. I always admired Rodin's THE HAND OF GOD, and what he was saying with the work.

I'll post more pix soon. The base is just part of the bust, all done loose in style but not quite as loose as the Hellboy bust. Marketing is not yet determined, but it will be available as a statue.

About 1/3 scale. The bust is roughly 8 1/2 inches all, but if it was a full figure it would be over two feet tall.

Here is the paint master for the piece. I went with a weathered antique look reminiscent of old wood or leather. We are still awaiting factory costs to determine final price.
The piece will also be available in bronze (real bronze).

Update for anyone who's interested, we are expecting a production sample for inspection within a couple weeks; our project was caught in limbo during Chinese New Year. Also, the first bronze prototype is in production now. I was at the foundry yesterday to inspect the wax pattern and should also have a sample from there in a week or two.
In the meantime I'll take the opportunity to post a couple images I shot for the web site.
Thanks for the support.

We will not be processing orders until September, but you can take a look at the company and bookmark the address for future reference. Any questions about ordering, or product can be submitted through the contact page on the site. I have to say this is indeed marvelous work. You have captured everything I could possibly think Jesus was going through. Anguish, sorrow, serenity. Its all there.

I have just received my statue in the mail and I cannot find the words to describe how powerful this piece is. It is more beautiful in person than in pictures.
The rough hewn quality of the work depicts the torture and physical punishment inflicted on Christ and yet there is an amazing tranquility in Jesus' expression, a full acceptance of his decision. It is as if he is gazing up, basking in the warmth of the sun, of God's love.
The roughness of the piece is also fitting in that it is reminiscent of a carving, something that a carpenter's son would appreciate.
This is a must have for any art lovers collection whether they be religious or not.
William, amazing work!
Thank you.

Due to requests, I signed a very small number of these busts when I was in Florida recently to meet with my partner. If anyone wants a signed copy, please include a request when placing an order. There is no additional charge but we will only send these to customers who ask, so if a signed piece is what you want let us know. Once the signed editions are gone we will relay that information on the site.
Thanks as always for the great comments and the patronage.

A quick announcement for anyone who was considering picking up one of these statues, especially for Christmas-
We find ourselves extremely low on inventory and our factory is not able to fill our next order until March or April of 2010. We have about 25 statues left that we will be able to sell this year, all ARTISAN (painted) Edition. The SCULPTOR Edition is temporarily out of stock.
Thanks.
