I want to use the live.com $200 discount to get a Canon lens. It can't be from a store & has to be Buy It Now to qualify.

Thoughts?

I suppose do the same thing you always do, check out past sales and feedback. it's about the only thing you can go on.

With equipment like lenses would u not better off bringing your camera to a shop and try the lense out first?

I think the 24-70mm (the brick). I keep asking here & at the Canon forums for folks to post pics with taken with it & an XSi, but I'm not getting much of a response. I'm a little worried as I've read some of these lenses are bad.

be careful when you read those internet forums. :) some get really picky about things. oh wait. that's like here.

I'm going to pull the plug! I'm buying from Cameta Camera on Ebay, using live.com, I'll get back $200, so it will cost me $907.95. That's $200 cheaper than B&H. Wish me luck!

bummer, sorry to hear that. well, here's how it looks mounted on the XTi. btw, mine has the extra battery grip on it.

Why do you like having a battery grip?

The lens is coming with a hood. Excuse my ignorance, but what's the purpose of a hood?

Do you think my statue shots will still be sharper with the 60mm, because it's a prime?

i like the added feel of the grip and the additional battery life. the XTi/XSi just feels too small for my hands. i like the larger size cameras. it's just personal preference.

the hood helps to avoid any light flares and is also extra protection for the lens..

as for sharpness.. it's often said that primes are going to have the edge over zooms but they're quite good and it's very hard to tell unless you're looking for it.. ok, uploading a few pics. these were all taken at the long end. 70mm
