Dormammu's shapeshifting abilities?

Hi Sam,

Could you help me to find out if Dormammu has advanced shapeshifting abilities like Loki or Mephisto does? Can Dormammu disguise himself as other human beings? I know Loki or Mephisto has assumed other's identities in their careers to trick people's souls. Can Dormammu do the same since he is more powerful than Loki/Mephisto? I have recently seen that Dormammu appears as the Hood in a mirror and then morphs into himself. Are there any Dr. Strange experts who can help out?

Hmmm...well, I think it's a matter of opinion if Dormammu is more powerful than Mephisto. I actually started a poll on this forum months ago asking this question of these very three villains and common consensus was that Dormammu is the most powerful of the three.

A quick read of his profile on Marvel's own site...

...reveals he not only has assumed human human form in the past but that his powers include being able to change his identity and physical appearance at will or "...size and shape alteration." So, yes most certainly, he can do this as can Mephisto or Loki.

Some clarity on The Hood. Dormammu doesn't actually appear as The Hood. The Hood's had mystic capabilities stemming from his hood/cloak that even he didn't understand or know from where they came, until the Avengers issue you cite from just a couple of months ago. The Hood, himself, is human. But it's Dormammu who's aiding him.

Thanks Joe for addressing my question. I saw your thread of Loki vs Mephisto vs Dormammu. I am very sure that Dormammu is the strongest among those 3. NO doubt at all. Dormammu alone rules his own dimension by himself while Mephisto shares 1/5 of the nether realm with other hell lords. Dormammu took over Mephisto's realm in Hellcat story and Dormammu proved to be more tricky than Mephisto the devil himself by allying himself with Satannish, who backstabbed Mephisto.

Back to more depths of my question, so Dormammu can shapeshift himself into disguises? I know he can possess human host or even Dr. Strange's body, but I have never seen Dormammu shapeshifts himself in human form since usually his underlings do all his biddings for him.

I've never seen him do this either but that doesn't mean he's not capable. Also, in the beginning of the character's bio write up it's pretty clear that he's assumed a human disguise/form in the past so there's little doubt to me that he can.

Yeah, I think Dormammu and Umar contacted matters and assumed human forms, such act was forbidden by Faltine. That is why they got exiled to the Dark Dimension and eventually Dormammu became the ruler of the Dark Dimension. :buttrock:
