Original review over here : Sam and Max Symbiote Studios statue review (http://www.whatsyourobsession.com/sam-and-max-symbiote-studios-statue-review/)

Just got this in the mail today. I looked for a thread over in the general statue board but didn't see anything. Anywho, I've been a big Sam and Max fan since the older PC game came out and I recently ordered this.

First impressions : It shipped quickly and they actually followed my instructions I left in the comment box since it was being shipped to Canada. Not being nailed by absurd customs fees is always a good start, since I'm still pissed off from Take 2's online store screwing up my order of $20 worth of Bioshock stuff ($23 in fees??).

The statue came in pieces, which I guess you glue together? I'm somewhat new to comic statue collecting (got around a dozen) so I've never dealt with one that wasn't fully assembled before. For the purposes of the pictures, I put it together, but you can kinda see it's not finished.

For whatever reason, probably because I ordered the statue while half-asleep, I was under the impression that it was 17.5~cm high, instead of 17.5~ inches high. Which of course means it didn't fit into my DIY toy/statue photobooth, whoops. It's pretty enormous and has a great weight to it.

The base is really nice (shaped like the badge) and I thought the characters looked quite good from all angles. The sculpting is spot on with how they really look, so no complaints on that front.

Their legs stick out a tiny bit on the pegs, but when held down, the pegs seemed to go fully in. I'm assuming that won't be a problem with the whole thing is glued down, but as mentioned, I'm not doing that just yet!

Given the style the statue is imitating, there's not a lot of fine detail, but the smaller things like the gun handle look good. I'd be hard pressed to find something to dislike about it apart from the whole putting it together thing.

4.5/5 on this one!

It had small rods for certain areas, but I couldn't find a larger rod that went through the base/body/head, I'm not sure if it was supposed to be included or what.

Even with the rods in place, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable displaying it without some sort of glue, yeah.

Nice statue if you're a Sam and Max fan. You need museum putty (or glue) to keep it from falling completely apart.
