OK, it is kind of boring today so here is a change of pace. Who would drink who under the table? For the purposes of this poll, I've stuck to the Marvel Universe.
Vote for your choice as to who would be left standing in a beer for beer drink-off.
From my standpoint, it comes down to Logan vs. Volstagg - Mutant Healing Factor vs. girth, girth, girth! I stuck in a few other choices to give a good cross section of choices. Bottoms up!

That's why I figured he'd be a #1 contender. I voted Volstagg because while he might get drunk, he can physically hold more. Logan has a healing factor but does not have a mutant bladder! :)

Would say Logan myself and his healing factor, what’s more he seems to spend some time in bars.
Isn’t Tony Stark on the wagon so will not be use to drink now.

Theoretically, wolvie could get drunk if he was really, really beat up and his healing power was way taxed. I mean, he still takes damage like a regular human (except no broken bones), he just heals. So,
Volstag should fire a rocket at him, and then drink away. he would totally win.

Volstagg for sure. I've seen Logan drunk before (recently in Secret War, on the plane with Cap and the other heroes, in fact). Vostagg with his Asgardian physiology, not to mention his sheer girth, should win hands-down.

Logan was only drunk because Bendis is an idiot and screwed up. He can't get drunk unless his healing factor was spent, which it wasn't. Wolvie wins.

Well then he could just let it explode and heal back up...plus I don't think Logan would allow peeing in his pants to stop him from winning a drinking contest, I mean the guy is the picture of the "Napolean complex" :laugh:

as much as I agree on Bendis, I have to say Volstagg is immortal, right? Surely the gods can hold their liquor better than men.

I've never thought that Wolverine was incapable of getting drunk; rather, his body just clears the alcohol more quickly. If he is incapable of getting drunk, then why is he always drinking beer? But Volstagg... look at that immortal gut! That guy could drink for months. 3 Wolverines could fit inside his liver. Plus, he's used to heavy-duty Asgardian brew, not the watered-down crud we mortals drink. So Volstagg wins and uses Luke Cage's yellow shirt to wipe up the vomit.

The voting seems to indicate Wolverine and Volstagg were indeed the two must have choices for this poll, though. Earthly mutant vs. godlike gluttony. A tough call and good arguments for both sides.

Everyone says that Logan can't get drunk because of his healing factor, but he's been drunk in comics a bunch of times. The latest being Secret War #1, but I can vaguely remember at least another 3 or 4 times. He should be able to drink more than the average person, but he's not immune to the toxic effect of alcohol.
Voted Volstagg.

yeah I thought that Wolverine can get drunk too. I seem to remember an issue where he was . I'm just surprised that Hercules was in the list.

The reason you get drunk is because alcohol is an attack on the body's systems. If it were suppose to be in your body it would have inebriating effect on you. Thusly when Logan drinks his healing factor kicks in and compensates for the invading alcohol. In essence he doesn't get drunk. Probably has to pee a heck of a lot though. At least this is how it should work!

Is Hulks Metabolic rate that fast! If it is he should be the size of Lance Armstrong! Or be constantly eating to keep up his 1500 or so pounds! :D

Hulk is a force of nature. He's virtually unstoppable, invulnerable, and tireless. You can detonate a nuclear bomb over his head and he would barely get a scratch. Yet, according to you, beer will slow him down?
If that were the case, the Leader would zap him with a beer ray.
I'm amazed at how I get drawn into these discussions!

Actually he can.
Look at Uncanny X-men Annual #11. He gets the snot kicked out of him because he was still a little tipsy and his healing factor didn't have time to absorb all of the booze.

He can't hold more the Volstag he will get full at some point in time. Plus what type of drink are they drinking earth liquor or Asgardian liquor? I think the latter is more potent. Volstag has a accelarated healing factor as well and these guys eat and drink for days on end.

I think that Wolverine can get drunk but as soon as he stops drinking his healing factor clears his body pretty quickly. Like when he gets poisoned...
And where's Juggernaut in this competition anyway? I've seen him down barrels of beer at a time!

When was the Beast a heavy drinker?
I only remember a couple of issues with a drink in his hand, but not hammered.
Still can't belive Herc & Hulk aren't on this list.

Hulk shouldn't be able to get drunk... not on what we drink anyway. His metabolism and threshold is off the scale and a million times that of Wolverine.
