Thanks Ray. Best 1:6 figure ever. Definately my favourite collectible of 2009 so far. I'm even more impressed with this than I am the Indy PF.

Not that I know of. I'm in the UK and got mine from Hong Kong. Only took 2 days. I had it on order with sideshow but when I found out its due to ship in Feb/March I became impatient and cancelled.

I can't wait for the others. Screw the Life size bust. These look much better and makes the bust look like it was painted by infants.

Did you order it through Studiosunny, perchance?I have and I know somebody on the Freaks board in England has theirs.Ordered and paid for this bad boy the day the first pics and auctions went up way back in June. This is my most anticipated Hot Toys figure yet.Absolutely loved Iron Man!

The figure has been criticized for being too slim. However if you look at the CGI scenes in the movie he looks slimmer there than the scenes where RDJ is in the suit.

Personally I think it looks spot on.

You'll be thrilled when he arrives. The packaging is beautiful aswell and I think it needs to be displayed along with the figure.

I'm counting on that.
Passing on their whole IM line except for Mark 01.
The wonky shoulder pads and plasticky paint scheme screams Hasblow to me.

I agree about the shoulders (though it may be just a poor pose/angle) but I disagree about the paint.

I wish folk would get over the whole man doll/statue thing - it's our figure collecting hobby - all is good. It makes me laugh that statue collectors laugh at 'action figure' collectors while there are other (read: normal :D ) non-collecting people who laugh at all of us for our obession while they themselves have little porcelain girls holding parosels on their window shelf. Go figure.

The shoulders are moveable.

If people think the paint on this looks incorrect or plasticy, just wait until sideshow brings a maquette out. If its anything like thier 1:1 bust and the SIM comiquette then we'll see who complains about the paintjob.

In what way? Could you have moved the shoulders back up from the position they are in the photo I quoted?

Bruceelee
01-22-2009, 09:58 AM
I will take photos after work. The shoulders are two seperate pieces and the top part can slide up and down. Its tough to explain but I'll show you what I mean.

The shoulders may be movable but the fact they are overtly large cannot be avoided.
On the paint on the 1:1 bust, i'm pretty shocked at the lacklustre quality that Sideshow had out into this as most if not all their products had pretty decent paint with only the occasional flaws.

I am IRON MAN!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/demonhuntermy/ironman2.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/demonhuntermy/ironman1-1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/demonhuntermy/ironman3-1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v81/demonhuntermy/ironman4-1.jpg

Got him home today. Perfect gift for myself for Chinese New Year this coming Monday.

So, what's the verdict?

Good good. No mismatching legs, wrong assemblies. But the arm missiles when lifted seem to fire the missiles backwards. Hmmm. Wrong assembly here? (Edit: Nope, I have to flip the missiles to fire forward)

Paint wise.....well, most parts it is good. They made plastic appear metal. Good effect. But there were some parts that the spray paint went overboard a little bit, like a hairline bleed to the gold part from the red. Minor thing. Oh, his ass, yes, the paint was a little uneven, looking like smudges on his ass.

Lights working, yes yes.

Can all the moving parts open. Flaps? Yes, yes.

But can they close properly?

Well, as you can see above, one of the flaps can't go all the way down. Tssk tssk tssk, not good. Minus 1 point.

How about his head? Tssk tssk tssk. Because of the head's contruction to fit onto the neck that has a light to illuminate Iron Man's head, you can't tilt Iron Man's head down. He's always looking straight ahead.

Another thing is that I thought this Iron Man is completely hard plastic. No no no.
Some parts are made of soft rubbery plastic, or perhaps real rubber or synthethic rubber.
Anyways, Iron Man is both soft and hard. Mostly around parts that would allow you to pose him. Do be careful, careful with some parts, like for example the piece that is on back of his hand, it's soft rubber, and is attached to a ring that attaches to the arm.

He is very poseable from photos posted by others, but at RM400 plus a pop, I am afraid of breaking things and scratching the paint.

The shoulder armour is flexible, you can move it up or down, expand or shrink. To allow shoulder movements.

I give it 3 stars out of 5.

Yeah, man-dolls from Hot Toys rock.

Anybody knows how to remove the batteries? Wouldn't want battery leaks.

Nevermind, found out that there was a small little piece of instruction sheet hidden at the back of the black plastic case of the packaging.

Batteries hidden underneath screwed compartment of back and under arms. Unscrew, lift covers, remove batteries, rescrew to close covers. Okie dokies.

You wont be able to do it for permanant display purposes unless he is on the edge of a shelf and you have something heavy holding it.

Anyway you put the metal holder into the stand backwards.....put the stand at the edge of a table or shelf then put something heavy on the base to keep it from falling over. I only did it for the pics.

Like most everyone else, I also received my Mark III yesterday.

After unpacking him, I noticed a couple of paint flaws on the Iron Man head. One is a black spot where it looks to potentially be missing some paint, under the brow, and the other is a similar spot on the side of his head.

They're both small, but relative to the size of the figure, I find them fairly noticeable.

I'm leaning towards trying to get a replacement, but I'd rather not have to ship the whole thing back just for a replacement on one small piece.

What do you folks think?

Ironically, between the two items, my 1:1 bust was the one that didn't need to be sent back.

but am I the only one surprised/disappointed on the color (or lack of) bright red that it seemed to look like in previews? ....as well as any sense of shine?

...and please don't tell me "it's the flash"....that doesn't make it all up..

..it's really not any different red than the Koto Statue and we all thought that was flat off..

I have read others 'complain' (for lack of better word) about the darkness of the red as well.

I have to say, I don't get it. I don't believe they could have gotten any closer:
