Stan Lee, the comics creator, and Marvel Entertainment were among the defendants named in a lawsuit filed on Monday in federal court in Manhattan by investors who say they are owed profits from films and other works that feature Marvel characters, The Associated Press reported. The plaintiffs are shareholders in Stan Lee Media Inc., which emerged from bankruptcy in 2006, and they say they are due profits from any properties based on characters that Mr. Lee helped create, including movies like “Spider-Man,” “X-Men” and “Iron Man.” Mr. Lee had previously sued Marvel for profits generated by his characters, and sued Stan Lee Media for copyright infringement and other claims. In that suit, Mr. Lee’s lawyers said he did not give Stan Lee Media any interests in characters he created for Marvel.
