Hello,

I want to sculp a nice throne.. and therefor I was looking for a ground "seat" where I can put on later the clay for details and my own creation of a throne.

I was first thinking to use Styrofoam (the hard ones you use for gardening sticking the plastic flowers in for example), but its melting in the oven if you would bake it with the clay arround it.

Taken just clay would take waaaay to much clay ..and i think it wouldnt be so strong building it without any strong holding ground..

Any Idea here ???:(

Make an armature out of wire or construct a wood frame. Then add your details on top of that with clay.

Ditto that. Balsa wood and popsicle sticks work pretty well. They're sturdy enough to sculpts on top of, but easily shapeable as well.
