One of my favorite authors - a very distinctive voice in new wave science fiction of the '60s, as well as more modern works. Sir, you will be missed. :(

If you don't know who this guy is, I recommend the softcover collection The Best Short Stories of JG Ballard:

Of course, he's more well-known for Empire of the Sun and Crash, but his short stories are superb. His writing could be called "Kafkaesque", but he actually has his own literary term in the Collins English Dictionary:

Ballardian (adj) - resembling or suggestive of the conditions described in J. G. Ballard's novels and stories, especially dystopian modernity, bleak man-made landscapes and the psychological effects of technological, social or environmental developments.
