I have no idea, but I would not mind picking it up for my PS2. The game looks like it has potential to have a high fun factor. What is it like, you can have control of 4 X-Men at once. Now that could lead to some interesting game play.

Just in case people were curios about the game
" X-Men: Legends Release Date: TBA
Penned by Man of Action, a studio of comic industry veterans, X-Men: Legends begins with the rescue of a young mutant and takes players through an engrossing plot that could unite mutant-kind, yet destroy the human race in the process.
Along the way, players will be able to assemble their ideal X-Men crew from over 15 of the most popular characters from the last 40 years, including Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Gambit and Beast, to name a few.
However, before players load-up their squad with heavy hitters, they will have to take their foes’ abilities into consideration as certain situations may benefit from the abilities of specific X-Men. While Cyclops’ optic blasts and Colossus’ immense strength are great for clearing a path through hordes of enemies, players can opt to bring Wolverine and Nightcrawler along on a stealth intensive mission to help circumvent detection devices.
Once the action begins, players can take control of any member of their squad and even execute multi-character combinations such as the famous Wolverine/Colossus Fastball Special. As they progress through the game, characters will gain experience points that players can use to upgrade the X-Men’s abilities and even learn new fighting styles.
Four-player co-operative mode is also planned, allowing multiple players to partner-up in X-Men: Legends. With dynamic joining, new players can join the adventure at any time, or gamers can take a break and pit their heroes against each other in the X-Men’s famed Danger Room."

The PSP is going to be a whole lot more than Sony's verion of the Gameboy. The buzz on this is just phenomenol. Very cool, very powerful. Basically a PS2 that you can carry around with you. The graphics are supposed to be excellent. I'm gonna preorder one of these as soon as they put them up. I believe it is scheduled for release around March 2005

In addition to needing these promos which may come in the game, I heard it was made by Activision...and I also heard it was scheduled for release near the end of Sept. So could be any day now. Often activision inserts the cards into the game box. If anyone buys this and has no use for the cards, we would be interested. Thanks

That would be most appreciated, I did some research this morning. The game has either been released, or someone kyped some cards, (unfortunately the auctions had already closed) the promo sets are 5 cards each, and (I assume) they will be inserted.
I collect many different kinds of cards from all over the world, but my primary collection is Marvel Comics. You can PM any time you like. If you shop at Target buy the Marvel gift cards to use for purchases and I would be grateful for those cards as well. PM for any further details.

I was just flipping through my recent issue of Wizard and they have screen shots from X-Men Legends. It looks really cool, but my one beef about it is that it's the Ultimate x-characters and not the mainstream ones. Does anyone know if you can chose the regular versions of the characters instead of the Ultimate versions?
PlayStation Portable
Think PSP level graphics on a handheld device about the size of a TV remote. Plays Universal Media Disk, so will support great games and cinematics as well as CDs, DVDs and MP3s. Hot Spot enables for access to content, browsing and multiplayered games.
Battery life needs to be improved from the projects 1.5 hours, but the systems will rock.
Expect the price to be better than hoped for too. I hear $299....
Perna,
There will be classic version of the characters, as well as unlockable costumes.
Basically, the Ultimate versions are the looks of the characters, but the story covers the entire X-Men history.
As the game progress, some the levels are "flashbacks", which will have the X-Men in their Original costumes!!!! Or some in the ****rum era ones too!!!
I played this at E3. I think comic fans will be happy.

Tao,
That's automated, not a mod. It takes certain words and however they are used, replaces them with "*". It doesn't know how it's used, just does it. This eliminates from mods having to check for so much. Sticks is some aspects but you have to take the good with the bad, i guess.

Just saw a commerical on TV about it. If the commercial is any indication of how good the game is then this thing is going to rock.
All,
Just got the game and I am floored. The cell shaded animation is perfect! Easy to play and tons of goodies hidden in the game like X-Men trivia you can play when not on missions to earn more experience.
Very classic RPG on console controls, but with lots of action.
Great voice acting, they even got Patrick Stewart to reprise Prof X.
I would give 9 out of 10 to this, but I have only gotten into the first few levels. It may not hold up well in the long haul, like Spider-Man 2 didn't, but the intial experience is awesome.

All,
I have opted to rent the game first...for one full week. As of yet, I like it very much. So, far The Brotherhood has eaten my fist more then once.
Most likely will purchase it.
Brotherhood is kicking my collective spandex butts all over the place too.
Took Pyro out pretty easy, but the Brotherhoold Marauders on the ice tunnel levels are just beating me with a pimpcane.
Still, love the game and think it will be a classic for comic fans.

I have a minor update on these cards......Apparently they were a promotion to pre-order the game. I don't know which one, and counldn't even guess, as I have none near me, but some video game store mostly found in malls had them as a pre-order promo. Anyone who purchases from a store like this, should be sure and ask if they have any more or if the promotion is still running. I understand that the game is to be released any moment now. Late Sept. Anyone got anymore info on X-men legends? I am going to get it next week but, I want to know if it is worth it. Is it good like Final Fantasy good or is it just good but, not Final Fantasy good?
Car50n
09-30-2004, 07:42 PM
nothing is Final Fantasy good. this is a real time action RPG. at times it's almost it's almost arcade-ish. but there are a lot of strategic elements. if you're a fan of the X-Men comic History, this game is great. it incorporates elements from throughout, from 1963 to the Ultimates.
PS. they wear Ultimate style uniforms for most of the game, but the old-school uniforms are used during 'flashback' missions. and the story reads like an Uncanny book.
So far I really like the game, but I do have a problem with the inconsistent use of the voice actors.
The voice talent is very good, especially after dealing with Spider-Man 2. However, sometime the characters talk, usually between missions, but in mission sometime the voices are used, sometimes not.
Minor peev, but should be noted.
Graphics rock and the flashback sequences are fun. Good use of your dollars overall.

Gambit is 'ok.' his cards are as lame as iceman's icicles his power. don't know if they become more impressive as u level up.
i'm kicking myself, i think i missed the Juggernaut Flashback. I couldn't find beast and went on to the next mission. i'm gonna be really pissed if i can't play it sometime down the road.
btw, rogue does seem to be one of the easiest players to power up. plus she can throw wolvie for a cannonball special. cyclops is the easiest character to do power combos with. you can sit back and beam someone as soon as your teammates use their specials. nightcrawler is deceptively good. his multi-port special is pretty cool and he can port with one teammate, that's just too cool.

Watch out for the Morlock Goths, though they look like the goth chicks you wanted to asked out in high school, take them down first. They re-animate characters like the Brawlers, so you end up wasting a lot of energy on them. Take the Goths out first, the the minions.

If you bring up the map you will see Red arrows, I find it is easier if you bring up the big map to see the red arrows. Go toward those and you will find Gambit trapped in a cage with Marrow gaurding him. You have to fight a bunch of people as well. make sure you take a flyer with you because there are two enemies that you need to fly to or jump to to get the power up from them.

yesterday I spent 7 hours. I think in total now about 20. My characters are all around 23 level. I have a good strategy, I have been taking there level ups and focusing on one power until it is at it's highest. Such as Storms lightning or jean Grey's TK....
Rogue I have not been funding her mutant powers that much she has been getting strength and defense.
The characters that I use are Storm, jean Grey, Rogue, and the 4th slot is usually Jubilee or Emma Frost. Sometimes I will use Iceman, and I will use Cyclops when it's time to fight the Sentinels his optic blast kicks butt.
Yesterday I fought Avalanche and Sabertooth together. They did not stand a chance with my lightning blast. I saved Psylocke but she is not playable yet.

Now on the Weapon X level.
Think I enjoy playing with Cyclops, Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Iceman the most so far. I agree with the previous post about focusing on one power at a time and maxing it out. Also important to really think about which characters should have the unique items.
Activision has a winner here and I am sure we will be seeing sequals.

Got this game last week, wow, I am impressed. Very cool game with a lot of surprises for the veteran X-Men comic readers. I also like how they merge all the different X-Men universes into one. My only gripe is the AI at times acts very stupid.

I just got the game last night and let me tell you I spent three hours playing it. I suck though. I finally died after fighting pyro. Still haven't gotten the hang of swapping people to apply health packs. I eventually lose everyone but, Wolverine or Iceman. Very fun game though. The trivia in Xavier's mansion was cool also. I missed three questions I think.

i think my problem is that i'm missing a crew to rescue. i've checked the map and it shows no missing "X" to get since the map marks the X where something is at. i go all the way to the end and the last one I find is #7. can't find #8. it's like 2 crew per section but 1 section i think i only found 1. i had about 6 min to kill and ran all the way back but didn't find any. hell, i have it down to such a science (this scenario), i don't even use health on anyone. let me know if you know of something that i'm missing on.

couple of things i don't like. there are levels which you need special characters like iceman or cyke. don't like that cause you can't pick a favorite four and get their powers to increase. also noticed that as you go along, those that you don't use, their powers increase as is. gambit started like level 11 and now is 14 and i have yet to use him. gonna start using magma. she seems to be a pretty powerful one. i blitz through this when i use wolverine and have storm, cyke and phoenix. rogue is pretty tough but using wolvie as the main attacker and doing team power shots, you destroy this enemies. lol. i've posted more for this game on this forum than anything else...
oh, what i don't like much also is the camera angles. in the middle of fights, it can change it on you and you can't see what you're doing. i still think HALO is the best game so far in all aspects.

When you press select to level up your characters, is there a way to save this. Everytime I go through a new tunnel or visit somewhere I haven't been I have to redo all of my characters level ups. Is there a way to not have to do this constantly?

ashley, when you are at save point, select characters, level them up to your choice but before you exit, make sure you press, (>) button so it saves it. then, save the game. now your characters are saved from that point on.

Hope to see those alternates soon. Maybe I can beat it tonight...

so far, once your team is around high level 20's each, this isn't even challanging any longer. mad easy. it's mostly approach and have the team hit with their super powers. doesn't even matter who i use. i guess the trick is to load on only one power until it's maxed. the toughest part was actually guessing how to kill some of the bosses but once you figured it out after a couple of tries, it's not hard. sorta disappointed. good story line though. i don't even use the danger room any more to get experience. the good thing is that you can actually use any character since they also move up in levels automatically when you progress.
Solved it last night and unlocked the Extreme Gear.
Now I can also skin the characters in various classic costumes. Have Iceman, Beast, Marvel Girl and Cyclops all running around in the old blue and yellow togs.
Cool for a little while.
I did not unlock all the characters. Anyone get them all on the first play through?
marvelboi77
10-15-2004, 09:50 PM
I got them all who were you missing? I don't think it's possible to miss any.... There is one blank spot at the end because Prof X is no longer selectable.
Marv,
There are several black spots, I think about 4 on the character selection bar at the last extraction point on Asteroid M.
I thought it would other characters, like Havok, or such.
Went to www.gamefaqs.com and have not seen anything other than what I unlocked beating the game.
Either they planned on more characters and removed them near the end of development, or they are hidden and must be unlocked by a code something else. Game developers are sneaky like that.
Will dig around online and see what I can find.
marvelboi77
10-16-2004, 12:55 AM
Yeah I hope we can play Havok. He does all the moves and has all the powers already programed into the game. That would be cool. Who else would there be Avalanche Sabertooth?

marvelboi/tao:
did you guys find it mad easy torwards the end? also, when i set the team to aggresive, they don't always fight. sometimes they even get stuck following me when going up stairs.
dunno, maybe i ask for too much out of a game. it'd be cool if you can make them fight on their own while you're doing something else. also, more fights against groups of villians would have been cool.
if you're ever short on health, just do a danger room scene but not enough to win, just enough to pick up health. set your xmen so they don't auto load health. maybe that's why it's so easy for me. if i ever ran low, i'd go to the danger room to get more. now i don't even change the xmen that the computer chooses just to see how different it would be.
Drod,
Yes, it was pretty easy. I took Mageneto down without much work and Master Mold was not to hard once I figured out to.....;-)
Good idea on the danger room. Will use that when I replay.
Love the foreshadowing with the OTHER villan at the end.

I'm almost done with it a second time. I love the game. It's not so easy if you use characters that done have energy attacks, such as Rogue, Beast, Wolverine, Emma Frost. I love playing Phoenix, I think she is great.
d rod
10-16-2004, 10:46 PM
master mold actually took me a while. had to revive storm a couple of times. hard to get the xmen to fight w/out you. it would be better if one could individually command them a different task like "fight enemy" or "stay". there where times when i could have done sneak attacks alone better than the group since w/the group i'd loose health. anyways, it was pretty cool.
I think I will play it through again when i can have a few guys over for pizza and game night. Fun by yourself the fist time, but it would be better with other comic and game fans now that I have seen the ending.

Okay - I am having a hard time with the Weapon X part of the game at the end with the energy fission device. (Could be that I was playing for 3 hours and it was 2 in the morning. :D ) Anyone have any tips?
ashley76
10-20-2004, 04:48 PM
Okay go to your left from the energy fission save point. go to the control panel and turn off the guns. Now go back to the other side and go down the stairs. Wait at each flamethrower until it finishes firing the go across. Go down the next set of stairs. Time it so that as soon as the energy fission thing drops some energy you immediately jet down those stairs. you will have to jump across a section of broken up flooring to get to the next stairs. go up them and wait for each flamethrower to do its thing again. Make your may to the control room and there you go.

I liked the first one but was just too let down on the simplicity of it once you got to a certain power level. not only that, characters that you didn't use automatically went up in level as well. they should force you to use two characters and two of your favorites that way it might make it more difficult. the AI for the ones you don't use wasn't always that good either. it would be good if you could set commands for them. the option of aggresive/passive to attack didn't really mean much either. the only difficulty was actually the big boss of each level but once you learned the trick, it was pretty easy. at least it lasted a while longer. well, i have the same problem w/halo as well. i can pretty much run through the game in the most difficult level but the first time around took me a while.

Are they ever goint to release this for the PC?!?
I am becoming so impatient! What gives?
I agree with Drod, the game was easy once they characters were leveled up back 30. I beat Magento on the first try, which should'nt be the case. I should have to work at figuring out the proper combination of characters and powers to take him down.
However, Mags in NOT is the final boss so there is some more to be played after that.
The game is fun if you like comics and RPGs. Even with some problems with the AI of the non player characters, the user interface is very strong and easy to use.
It is good by yourself, but great with friends.
Bottom line is play it and you will have fun. May not be GTA OR Halo, but still a fun game. Activision has a new franchise on their hands.

You have to kill the healers in the four corners. With each one you kill when they bring her back it only gives her partial health. The healers appear in the corner after you kill Marrow. So Kill a healer and then she comes back, when all the healers are dead beat her a ss...

hey, i just got this game for xmas, and i think it's really sweet. However, I recently ran into a problem. I may have missed out on a flashback mission....specifically the juggernaut one. It was so weird everytime i started the mission, after fighting him for a bit, the whole screen would go green and only have background music play. Finally, i decided to just play the next mission and come back later. however, now when i talk to beast he still says that line about "juggernaut had murder on his mind" or w/e, however the game doesn't ask if i wanna play the mission :( I saw earlier on this post someone with a similar problem, if he/she or anyone else knows how to fix this problem, or knows of a way to access flashbacks other than by talking to the xmen characters PLEASE tell me, this is really making me mad that i may have missed such a cool part of the game. dude, mine did the same thing for a while, i think there may still be something a bit wrong with it, but it's working fine now. I can't think of anything i really did BUT i did do one thing, which will sound odd. just like blowing dust out of a video game, u should do that to ps2 BUT do not literally blow the dust, that could get it further into the system and cause damage. Instead...and this will sound weird, stick a vacuum up to the side of it and get all the dust out. If u look at the front there's a grate thing and i bet u have dust buildup there
i just vacuumed the whole thing, obviously be careful not to damage your system though depending upon how your vacuum works. Try that out and tell me if it helps! Again, anyone know the solution to my juggernaut flashback problem????

They don't let you change costumes off the bat once you beat the game and start a new game. You need to play as Wolverine at the beginning again and go through the first level. If I remember correctly, you can switch costumes when you either get to the first extraction point, or when you get to the mansion. You will see an button on the screen that says "skin".
Abarron, you need to play all the danger room discs, before facing Mastermold, because it won't let you anymore if you beat him. Hopefully you had an extra save before you encountered him.
