And that, my friend , perfectly demonstrates why so many of us anxiously await the release of the dvd. If you're going to learn how this "magic" is created, you must learn from a master "magician"! That describes this piece perfectly in my opinion - pure "magic"! This piece is just about the most amazing sculpture I've ever seen! Awesome work (magic) Mike!

Almost begs for a companion Jack Pierce piece? Applying make-up perhaps ?

I think that was done as a kit. I think it looks great just as it is

True enough. It's an amazing sculpt (and finish) as a stand alone piece but it is one of the few 1:1 sculpts that I can think of (by any artist) that lends itself to interaction with a secondary figure. Damn, now that you mention it Vader, I wish I had that kit! Wasn't it a Thomas Kuntz sculpt ( for Janus Company)? Ah well, this is an incredible piece of work just as it is, agreed !

That's right. I think it was Kuntz. You're right about it being alive enough to be interactive. But I like the isolation of Karloff and his apparent contemplative state. It's great as it is. It's more art that just a representation.

Valid point about the contemplative attitude of the piece, now that you mention it! kind of like Horror and film collectibles answer to Rodin's "the Thinker". Makes you wonder what he was thinking about at the time the photo refernce was taken. Good point!

Agreed. It's a classic in its current form. If Pierce was added, it may look too much like a rehash of the kit.

was this ever a kit?

TOM S.

was this ever a kit?

Not specifically this piece, but there was a 1/6 two-figure kit from several years ago produced by Janus company, by artist Thomas Kuntz.

Couldn't agree more Vader. It's great to see the finished piece, but seeing the work in progress is often just as inspiring to see.
