getting closer to the look and feel I want.
This will be getting scanned for the miniatures with real clothes , leather boots etc.
debating if I want have 1/2 scale or 1/3rd
half scale would match the ironman from Sideshow .
the life size body is close to completion as well.
since he is 6 foot 4 I chose to have him looking down slightly he will also be in a very slight landing pose. done in a museum style very relaxed.

i'm hoping this will be 1:3 scale too..will def be in on this if so.

I'll take this over the upcoming CM superman anytime. CM have yet to nail the likeness of their human pieces.

You've done it right bobby!

Bobby C
07-08-2009, 11:51 AM
Thanks Guys, I will check on the face being too thin, he was really skinny in superman .
Part 2 he was a bit more heavy. I plan on doing at least 3 versions to get him as extreamly close as possible.
If we get the Ok to go ahead and produce these, I would leave it up to you guys to decide what one you like the most.

Looking very good bobby

critiques - the reference shot your using seems to have a fuller face (width wise), the lips look a tad too pouty and also (though i'm not 100% on this one) the nose looks very slightly too long?

(all imo of course!)

Bobby C
07-23-2009, 01:59 PM
Good eye, I will check that out in a day after I clear my head a bit, back onto the Bruce lee today.

Hi Bobby, this is a phenomenal sculpt.
I am drawn to one small thing though. On Reeve's left eye in your reference there is a flat spot in the eye lid above the iris. The eye lid on your sculpt seems more consistently curved in this spot unless I am losing the detail in the shadow. Also, I believe Reeve's left eye should be ever so slightly higher than his right. His face is close to but not completely symmetrical. Small things but worth pointing out. I am sure this will become the definitive Reeve.

Mike

Bobby C
07-24-2009, 12:28 AM
wow Glad you spotted that, I was torn on it, the eye is actually lower, but I had company over and they said the was lower (on my sculpt on his left) and I told them his face is not symmetrical this is what makes the sculpt so difficult, although i feel I will hit a home run once completed.
you really have to know Reeve to pick up all the unique quality he has.

on another note it is not like a shannon Dorty's (?)
eyes
basically I just pick on front shot and go with it, then try to find side shots from the same part of the movie.
he almost looks like 2 different people sometimes.

Tyderium
07-24-2009, 12:46 AM
I think the reference picture you are using is spot on. He has a purposeful look on his face, a steely look in the eyes and just the slightest hint of a smile coming across the lips, without looking like a smirk. And still has the iconic look about it without being too specific in facial expression. Side profiles from this reference point would be good. I still feel his left eye in that pic is ever so slightly higher than the right and has the flat spot on the eye lid above the iris. It is exciting seeing your progress on this Bobby.

Hi Ty diablo and J, I took your advise, on all levels,
it brought this piece as far as likeness to a higher level by volumes.
you guys are a big help!! I will post pics in a day or so .
since these adjustments,I do not know how much stronger this likeness could be.

I have been working On zod as well with a strong likeness actually very strong.

once I feel I cannot go further , the head will be casted and sent to be scanned to 1/3rd scale.
silicon head.

and half scale for myself to match the Ironman .

As rough as it is, the sculpt shows amazing potential. Bobby himself probably couldn't foreseen how good it will be when it's DONE.

Bobby C
07-24-2009, 09:22 AM
lets put it this way, I really know how good it has to be.
It has to be him from every single angle.
the Bruce has to be the same exact way.
the honesty on this board really helps me as a sculptor.

Tyderium
07-24-2009, 09:48 AM
Bobby, one last comment. You may have already changed this, but if the image on your computer is the hero reference, Reeve's right eyebrow is dipping down and just meeting the top of the eye. I guess this helps form some of the purposeful look in his facial expression. The sculpt currently has the right brow with slightly more space above the eye. That's it from me. Can't wait to see the pics of your final result!

It's a long process. Not only does the 1/1 sculpt have to be perfect but than we have yo scan it and print it. Once that is done a body has to be sculpted to match the scale of the head and the outfit tailored to that body. We area few weeks away from some
great progress pics of the joker and a month - month and a half on this.
