And I still prefer the classic Red Safari Jacket that Wonderman wore through the majority of his exploints in the 70's and 80's!

I still can't believe that the ultra lame Red Safari Jacket look is so popular. Wonder Man is lame as it is but the red jacket is by far his lamest look IMO.

There is a fine line between lame and kitsch. Wonderman walks that line quite nicely.

You are too young by about 10 years to really appreciate the coolness of the Red Safari Jacket Wonderman. He is a movie star superhero. That is his identity. It sounds schmaltzy and it is schmaltzy. The safari jacket version captures the character's true essense and will look great posed next to the Beast.

Writers in the last 7 years have really gotten away from Wonderman's core identity, and the transition to energy being has probably killed his acting career. Between the regular Avengers, Defenders, and West Coast Avengers, the Red Safari Jacket is the version of this character that has been in the most comic books and is the version that most long term comic readers identify Simon Williams with.

Well said, mad. When I think Wonder Man I think red jacket and shades... and I'd love to have that version to place beside the Beast on my Avengers shelf.

This is one of those looks that people either love or hate... and we know we've got both represented on the forum. Still - I'm hopeful that Randy will bring it to life along with his stated preference for the original green/red goggled version.

I agree but I still hate it. That's how I remember WM also but I've always thought it was lame.

Never say die mwf! I stand in awe of your single-mindedness ;)

Feel free to hop on board the "Original Human Torch Full Size Statue" bandwagon with me at any time!

Black muscle shirt w/ red W, and purple ionic energy form are the ones I think look coolest. I'd love to see a full sized statue of the energy form Wonder Man. Visually, it would look amazing next to the awesome new Vision statue, and the new Scarlet Witch! :)

I would have to go with the black tee, followed by the safari jacket, ionic and red and green (the last one always makes me think of a one shot villian, not an Avenger!).

wel said Madjazz, couldn't have said it better.
As with a lot of characters I often prefer the version which I grew up with (even if it's a red safari jacket)

Mad Jazz Do you remember the miniseries (or was it a stand alone?!?!?) Where Wondie and Beast teamed up? I always thought that was the last good Wondie story there.

However I thought that it was poetic justice that he died saving the Solar System. Guilt has always been his best friend and all.

Not ringing a bell. Can you remember at least a partial title or approximate year?

I looked through my wife's Beast collection, but couldn't find it. So I had to look it up on the net, because I knew it had a title like that. I did notice that Beast was on the cover of Wonder Man #5.

I'm a safari-jacket Wonder Man fan myself, but this has a lot more to do with me first seeing the character in that outfit than any esthetic evaluation.

His best looking outfit would have to be the black/ red outfit from Wonder Man 1.
