Just opened a Holly Starlite Maquette I recently bought from ebaY and it is fantastic!
The quality of their sculpts are (IMO) unequalled. The scale, casts, texture, paints kick serious ass. I just can't say enough good things about them. They are top notch! If you are into any of the characters they do, the higher prices are justified because you are really buying a real art piece!
Got a Little Asia on the way and can't wait to check it out!
It'd be cool if I could find their Tooned Up series at good prices because I would definitely become an the Electric Tiki completist.
Now, if they could only secure a good licence! Like Cartoon Network, a big video game company or something.
E.T. all the way!!!

Based on what I have preordered, I'm going to spend a lot this year and I'm trying to move. If I have any $ left after the move, I'd really like a Zorro and a Lone Ranger.

Glad to see there are more Electric Tiki fans out there. I'm lucky enough to own the Mighty Mouse, Phasing Casper, Little Asia, and a signed Daisy Duke (by Catherine Bach). I love these maquettes...:buttrock: I'd get more but Bowen takes most of my money.

Yup.. huge fan!
Now all I need is a Tooned Up Vampi and Vampira to go with my Elvira and I'll be all set.

Love the sneak peaks they showed of the baby Hellboy they were gonna produce.
Any more news on it?? Is it gonna be an SDCC exclusive??
I own their Lone Ranger and love it. I can't wait for Zorro and The Phantom!

Thanks for the kind words people. I'm curious as to why some of you think our prices are high. I think we are in fact a much better bargain than DC Direct. Our mini-maquette prices are in line with mini-busts for the most part, although I think some people look at prices differently when comapred to subject matter. In other words $45 for a superhero bust is a better perceived value than a $45 Casper maquette even though my production cost is the same or more.
A couple of things you have to keep in mind about us. I shouldn't even say us, I should say me. We probably aren't even big enough to qualify as a garage business, hah! I literally do everything myself but the sculpts (I'm trying to learn, but I'll eave that to the real pros). I design 99% of the pieces, I paint most of the prototypes, up until recently I have done all of the package design, I pack my own orders and drive them to the UPS store (No, I don't have a daily pick up...too expensive), I keep my own books (yes they are a mess) all from my house and garage.
Also, we rarely produce more than 500 of any piece (Yes, even though the boxes say higher) There are some exceptions, like Underdog, Mighty Mouse (at 750) and Hellboy will be close to 1000. If we were selling numbers like other companies (2000-5000) it would be a bit easier to pass along a better price. But as I said, I don't think our prices are that high. The most expensive things I put out have been Elvira (at $125)and The Lone Ranger (at $150). If these were Bowen pieces nobody would look twice at the price, even though he's guaranteed to sell 6-10 times more product than me. My overhead costs aren't really cheaper either. I still have to pay the same amount for licenses, have to pay sculptors the same amount for their work, and usually have to pay the factory's highest price since price breaks don't generally start until 1000 pieces or more. I actually found a cheaper factory. They did my Prototypes for Elvira, but the quality was pretty bad, so I went back to my original factory and paid twice as much for production. I don't get too many breaks (I'm not asking for any either), but it's things to keep in mind when you are buying our stuff. It truly is a labor of love. We don't advertise anywhere either so we are strictly a word of mouth operation. The thing I'm proudest of is that this is an "artist" run company. While everything we do is not a home run, I think we improve as we grow.
In closing, I would still say, buy what you like. If you are a fan of our products, please buy them. If you are not a fan of our licenses (hey we can't all do Marvel statues, even though every company seems to think it will be their salvation no matter how weak the product)then stick to companies who do your favorite characters. Trust me I understand. My personal collection is diverse. I probably have at least one statue from every company out there (except one particular company), so my tastes are pretty eclectic. Hopefully, I won't catch too much heat for this long winded post. I do appreciate the ones who have taken the time to check us out. hopefully we'll grow accordingly. BTW, heres a very early sneak at our next classic hero. Can't tell you who it is yet. Oh, and it's in scale to the rest of the line (1/6th scale) so it's huge! Oh, I also apologize for any bad grammar or spelling errors.
best always,
Tracy

Oh, some of the licenses you guys have mentioned are always a possiblity. It depends on who owns them and how easy they are to deal with. Some big companies, won't even blink at us.

Tracy,
I really enjoyed reading about how Electric Tiki works. From the quality and subjects of your sculpts, I had no idea the company was so small. You come off like a boutique kind of company, limited but high-quality product. I love your products, but I'm mostly into super and pulp heroes, so the only one I own right now is the Lone Ranger, which I couldn't be happier with (where's Tonto, by the way? :)). I just special ordered Zorro from my LCS yesterday and I can't wait for it.
I'd love to see more pulp heroes from ET, including the Phantom, Doc Savage (with real hair instead of that Dracula widow's peak), Green Hornet, etc. Meanwhile, I love looking at all of your creative new products. And your prices are well within the industry norm. Sure, I'd love $50 full-sized statues of your quality, but I don't think that's going to happen from any company.
Good luck!

So when is the Hellboy stuff coming out??
I've special ordered Zorro, as well, and am excited you guys are going to do The Phantom. Green Hornet would be great!
I know I've posted this before but I'd love to see a full size Barnabas Collins from "Dark Shadows," complete with fangs and cane!

Tracy,
Let me tell you... You sent me for Christmas one of the Electric Tiki blue figures. Well, a certain lady in my life took it from my office desk and is now using it at my home for her toothbrush. She loves it so much, she found an excuse to have it in a place that she can see it more often than not. Mind you, this is one of the first pieces to be displayed at my house. I tend not to have any work oriented items at my house but she's changed that.
So, I just wanted to first thank you for going through a major expense in sending out Christmas gifts (only other manufacturer to send me something was Sideshow so props to you!) and for having her love your gift and making me realize that I should show some of my love of statues at my house, not just my office. Those of you who know, I have about 1000 statues displayed at my office, produced the Transformers statues and busts w/HH but never had any of that at home until now.
Keep up the great work, we all appreciate it and many of us know the difficulties that you go through.

I own all the Harvey statues, plus Mighty Mouse, Underdog, and Holly Starlite. But I have to say that I'm about to lose patience with the Greatest American Hero. I got one cheap on ebay, and the cape was broken off. so the seller sent another and it was broke off too. There was no packing under the cape to keep it from snapping when the delivery person throws it in the truck. My third one is in the mail so hopefully it will be okay.
Keep these things coming, and I believe that someone mentioned Sad Sack. I'm in for that one. How about Herbie the fat fury.

Sad Sack, unforntunately is not part of the Harvey library anymore, so we won't be producing him. Little Audrey was the last of the Harvey characters. Were close to signing some new licensing agreements so hopefully we'll be able to make some announcements soon.

The Fleischer Popeye looks like it's going to ROCK!!! :) I also think that Electric Tiki would be the perfect company to do animation maquettes of the Hanna Barbera superheroes of 1966 & 1967, namely, the serious heroes, Galaxy Trio, Herculoids, Mightor, Samson & Goliath, and Jonny Quest (Space Ghost and Birdman have alread been done by otehr companies). Also the funny heroes, the Impossibles, Frankenstein Jr., Atom Ant, and Secret Squirrel! I know we've had this conversation before Tracey, but I still wish WB would get real on their licensing fees. There's no reason that they shouldn't want to see a company like yours that does a GREAT job with their products, produce these classic old characters. They would fit nicely in an HB line alongside all of the other classic characters that you do! :thumbs2:

Yeah, you'll probably get one off of your list. It won't be HB characters though. I've designed about 12 characters and have even worked on a prototype or two, but I doubt it will ever happen. WB's bottom line is cash and our product is more of a boutique type product that doesn't generate much in revenue for them. With our animation backgrounds I think our strong suit is animated characters. It's what I'm most comfortable with. I wish some of the big companies leaned more towards quality vs quantity. That's why working with companies such as Classic Media is so great. They let us do their characters because they like our stuff, not for their bottom line.

Amen brother!..... I've been busting my chops with WB for several years, trying to get them to look beyond the dollar signs, and I'm afraid the classic Hanna Barbera characters are not that important to them beyond the money that they can generate. But, it's a parodox of stupidity, because if they make the licenses too high to be worth the time of the big companies, and too expensive for the small ones, like Electric Tiki, then they won't make one thin dime off of them, now will they???  :banghead: :banghead:

Just out of curiosity, didn't Toynami ( I think) produce maquettes of Blue Falcon, and Birdman? They were pretty nicely done if I remember correctly. I wonder if they sold OK as they don't seem to be producing anymore and they have much wider distribution than me. If they can't make it work with these characters, maybe no one can.

I've spoken to George Sohn, president of Toynami, and he told me that they were going to keep going on their HB line, and that Galaxy Trio maquettes were planned, but then the licensing fees from WB went up when it was time for the renegotiation process. He told me that he spent a few sleepless nights trying to decide what to do, because he had always wanted to produce maquettes and action figures of the HB heroes. But, in the end, he said he couldn't justify the fees. He told me that the sales weren't that bad, it was just the increase in fees that made him decide to drop the line. In answer to the maquettes they made. Yes, they did do nice ones of Birdman, Blue Falcon, and Dynomutt.

I hear you. It's hard to be creative when you are dealing with certain "big" companies as well. Most of them have style guides that they are really hard core about you following to a tee. Even if the characters in the style guides are extremely off model. You can't explain "off model" to someone who is not an artist either. Most of the "art directors" at these places have never created a piece of art in their lives. They want tons of money for the license, then insist on a mediocre product.
Having said that, I've been pretty fortunate with the people I've dealt with. I was lucky to have people return my calls at all. Heh.

Actually, we did a couple of protypes to pitch to companies which got nowhere. The first is this Dr. Zaius, sculpted by my good buddy Jim McPherson. I almost didn't get this one back after sending it to Fox. It was right after 9/11 and the security for receiving packages was crazy at these big studios. Some other company eventually got the license and only produced a few characters. I didn't feel they captured the characters as well as Jim did.
I'll have to get pics of the second one, which was Lion-O from Thundercats. It was sculpted by none other than Tony Cipriano (Popeye)over three years ago. Warners kind of shuffled their feet with me, and I've heard about every company out there tried to get the license. They must have wanted a crap load of money as it seems no one ever did anything with it. It seems the 80's properties are on the wain right now. It's a shame too, I had done full color designs for about 12-15 busts and the statues of the main 4 T-Cats. I loved the heck out of this show and have never had more passion about a license. Doesn't matter now, it'll never happen with us.
I think Drod has dipped his foot in these waters as well. Maybe he'll elaborate.

Well said! I have a store and was looking at selling Toynami products and they sent me the info. I had bought two sets of their Herculoids and must say they're AWESOME! I can't play with them. I built a mountain in my studio and on top are perched the Herculoids just like in the opening credits marquee. Toynami's dedication to perfection and innovation sure paid off. I am one happy camper.
I too bought some Impossibles stuff from Brazil. Actually Brazil has products as well as Japan that weren't issued here although legally licensed. I'm a 'Classic Hanna Barbera' fan and they didn't have the toys back in the 60's when we were kids so I'm catching up.
I got so frustrated at not having the toys I wanted I've had to start my own dang toy company!

I have only seen Electric Tiki stuff from pictures on the web, and I have to say I am impressed. From the reviews of people here, I am definitely interested.
One item I am especially interested in is **** Tracy, but for some reason there are 3 different versions, and the the variants are randomly packed so you don't know if you are getting a common or rare one. This is fine for action figures or a collectable card game, but for a $150 statue?
Of course the collector in me will want the rarest, and no matter what people will feel just a tad dissapointed with their expensive purchase should they get a common one. I know it shouldn't matter if you enjoy the statue, but then, why make 3 versions?
Sorry, I don't mean to make this sound harsh. More curious than anything else. The statue looks great.

I have been admiring for a while Electric Tike statues and I finally decided to get two of them D i c k Tracy and the Phantom (Purple version) they remind me a lot the Sunday Comics that I used to read in Venezuela!
I believe they are coming on the last quarter of this year.

Since your hook up with Sideshow i have now order three pieces from your company. I love how the Munsters are turning out and the Biker Chick was just too good to pass up.

YAY! I just pre-ordered the Lily Munster. I couldn't resist, she looks so great. She'll be a nice companion piece for my Elvira. :)
I'm hoping for a Morticia Addams somewhere down the line too. :D

Read in another forum about the Beety Boop figures and that there was 50 of the blurple figures so I ordered one as they were cheap and selling so fast.
Now I know the character but never really watched it so I was going to just throw it up the attic and maybe give it to someone for xmas.
When I received it I wasn't even going to open it but after 2 weeks I couldn't help myself.
For some strange reason after opening it up I love it and it's standing on the base of my sideshow ringwraith on steed along with a couple of lotr statues.
The figure gives a smile to my face and my eyes gets drawn to it everytime, all I can say is well done!!!!

My wife loves those munster statues and after showing her the site, have a whole bunch of stuff from them on order, makes it easier too when I show her the Flash Gordon and Phantom I want :)
Now just do The Shadow and we are set!!

Were there supposed to be three versions of ET Popeye? 'Coz in the box, there were 3 listed - classic, retro, and black and white.
Just received a few from them, my only complaint... well, not really a complaint... is the foam inserts. Feels like they're as fragile as the statue itself. Really liked the flaps of the box though. :)

Yes there were 3. I picked up the retro and classic but passed on the b/w.

Really? I never knew there was a black and white version. Where was this offered? On sideshow? Can I have a link or pics perhaps?
