Yes, there were problems with the organisation and how things played out but for me personally it was great. Got to meet up with Mez, Wrothy, HalfThai and of course Rocket and FredFlinstone which is always great. Anyway, on to the pictures, that's what you're all here for, right?
I initially had no plans to get anything from Francis since I already have a magnificent Robin from him, but looking at the quality he was doing, I couldn't say no.
My only complaint is that there was so much watercolour being layed down that the paper is starting to curl, as you can see. He was also able to add to my sketchbook (which was my biggest priority).
Next, a piece from Agnes. She's a real sweetheart, unfortunately she appeared to be falling a bit ill toward the end of the con.
Finally, the cherry on top of all of that, a photo with Stan Lee. I'm not a celebrity photo kind of guy but considering the impact on the business which I'm so fond of, I decided to go ahead and ride the line. Thankfully Wrothy was able to help me shorten the wait by sacrificing some of his valuable time to queue up at a separate line using his special premium ticket priveliges and score me a photo token. Funny story - through some miscommunication, he bought a "signature token" rather than a "photo token" the first time around. D'oh! He was nice enough to GO BACK to the end of the line and ride it all the way again to swap and get the photo token (all the while I'm still waiting with the genpop line of sweaty fanboys). What a guy, right? I was tempted to ask him to cut off his hand and give me his premium ticket wristband to allow me to get priority during the photo session as well but I thought I better not push my luck.
A very fun and enjoyable convention, it looks like all of us SF-ers got what we wanted, so score one for the good guys. I've got a small handful of photos on my facebook page, if you haven't friended me to see them then shame on you. Here's what you're missing out on -
