Madness was big here in the early 80's thanks to "One Step Beyond" on video in the salad days of MTV...when it really was M T V.
Most of the other cool Ska music could be heard if you were into the underground scene. Bands like "The English Beat" and "the Specials". That stuff gave us Punks a chance to actually dance without getting a bloody nose or busted ribs, like we would often do while slamming
in the pit.
Indeed, our friends across the pond have given us quite great entertainment in all mediums. Monty Python, Benny Hill, the Young Ones, etc. Good beer and stout too...bad food though.
