Unhappy Gene Upshaw Dies at 63

My 2 Favorite Teams are the Jets, and the Raiders !

I loved the Raiders of the 70's with Ken Stabler, and how they would always run to the left with Gene Upshaw, and Art Shell paving the way for the Running backs

He passed away at the same age as his Jersey Number 63

Is a very sad day in Raider Nation.

RIP Gene

I feel bad for him and his family. Loss is always sad.

No one has done more to screw up the NFL than Gene Upshaw. Sorry, but it is true. With all his conflicts of interest, I don't know how the players haven't sent him out to be shot a long time ago. This is on the Players Union side of things, not as a player.

There will be loss, but there will also be potential gain for the NFL. Stay Tuned.

He was a great player.
Sad he passed away so quickly after being diagnosed with cancer.
He did a lot for the Players Union.
But I have to agree with Mark, he did more harm than good in the NFL.

He was a tremendous player. I still remember how he and Art Shell destroyed the Vikings defensive line in Super Bowl XI.

now the player unions can get a real leader and not a figure head that agrees with the leagues owners and leaves his retired players hanging with medical bills.

its sad how disrespectful people can be in a thread meant to honor someone else. especially when they have no clue what they are talking about.

I agree, if you are gonna trash the man, make a new thread.

And if you were that pissed about it, why wait for the man to die before commenting on it

Very sad.

I don't see anyone using disrespect. I see people giving opinions on his body of work. Sounds like he gets great props as a player and a tepid atta boy as a Player Rep.
