Testing my new lens

Hi All,

First off, I want to thank Ed (P1XAR) for answering
my many dumb and stupid questions when I first was
looking into getting a new Camera.

At that time, I went with his recommendation of the
Canon XTi that came standard with the EFS 18-55 lens.
It's a nice lens and gave me plenty of nice shots. But
as time goes on and I get so WOW'd by the many
beautiful shots you gguys/gals are able to do...I wanted
to upgrade.

My next upgrade was to the UMS 28-135 f/3.5 lens.
A very nice lens but doesn't work well with the
type of photography I need to use it for, which
is mainly taking shots of statues and model kits.

Well....I was told by a sales rep that if I wanted
my shots to be the best they can be..stay with
a Canon lens and I started trying to figure out
what lens will best suit my needs.

A different rep showed me the
Tamron SP AF17-50 F/2.8 LD and recommended it.
I was quite nervous since it was not a Canon lens
but after having a chance to play with it, I can safely
say that I am very pleased with it. I still have a bit
of a learning curve to go through on it...but on my
first crack at using it...well...here what I was able to
pull off in my initial test run.

Reduced again to F 2.8:

Danno these look great! The chrome on Ultron is looking especially nice

Congrats on your new gear!

Just so you know, i own a Canon body, but the lens i use all the time is a Sigma. Not using a Canon lens is no big deal . . . if you buy according to what you like/need you'll never go wrong.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Great pics Danno. I started with the 18-55 as well but soon moved to a Canon 17-85 EFS IS and I highly recommend it. I mean I'm new at this as well, but it makes a great walking around lens and takes very clear pics.

Well, I took the plunge and picked up another lens.
This time, I snagged the Canon EF100mm f/2.8
macro and I wanted to play and test.

My son found a caterpillar eating a milk weed so after
several snaps...I think I took 1 decent shot.
