Teenager's feet severed......
Teenager's feet severed on popular amusement park ride
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A witness say an amusement park accident in Kentucky occurred when a cable on a thrill ride snapped.
A 13-year-old girl's feet were severed in yesterday's accident on the Superman Tower of Power ride at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville.
Chris Dinnette was riding one car over from the girl who was hurt. He tells WAVE television he heard what he thought were screams of excitement. But then he saw a cable "come back and hit a lot of people" and realized he was hearing screams of horror.
The ride lifts passengers 177 feet straight up, then drops 154 feet, reaching a speed of 54 miles per hour, according to the park's Web site.
The ride has been closed indefinitely.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is heart breaking! These rides do not malfunction as often as some would have you believe, but when they do someone always gets seriously injured or killed. 13 years old. What a tragedy.
The girl is currently in surgery to have her feet re-attached. Messed up. Apparently park employees picked them up and sent them to the hospital with her.
That depends on how long the feet were detached and the cut itself .. if the cut was clean then it's not impossible that the surgery could work.
In any case, my heart goes out to the poor girl, no child (or adult for that matter) should have to experience that kind of pain.
These kinds of things are always tough to hear. I certainly hope that all works out for her, I am keeping her in my thoughts and prayers.
I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.
